This was my first hostel experience and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very welcoming and even had events and activities for travelers to participate in, I met a wonderful group of people out of one I went to. The rooms were not necessarily the best, same with the toilets/showers but I felt safe at all times and it worked for the two nights I was there. Best part is the location, it’s not far from lots of different sights in the city including the castle! I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for an affordable bed for a short term stay in Edinburgh.

Stayed here for a night only. The place is old and it can feel a bit dirty, but overall it was a good experience. The beds are comfortable. I got a steal I paid $12 for a room including breakfast, so to me that can't be topped. Also the bar is so great, they had a band playing and they were the highlight of my stay!

If I could give zero stars, I would, but unfortunately, that’s not possible. I apologize in advance for the photos I’m attaching, but they speak for themselves. This was my first time in a hostel, and I was absolutely shocked by the poor experience. We stayed in a four-bed room, and cleanliness was clearly not a priority. There were hairs all over the bed, and the showers and toilettes weren’t regularly cleaned- they were filthy. The bathrooms and showers were especially disastrous and beyond unhygienic. The doors are incredibly thin. You could hear everything, even when people were just whispering. We were constantly woken up every few hours, never managing a full night’s sleep because of the noise. You could hear every single time a door was closed. To make matters worse, there was a strange green light in the room (???) that stayed on the entire time, making it even harder to rest. We were sleeping with sleep masks and earplugs and still could not get a single good night’s sleep.Breakfast was okay, and the staff were friendly, which were small positives in an otherwise disappointing stay. The central location was also a plus, but with conditions like these, it hardly makes up for everything else. I won’t be back.

It was ok. The location was great which does make up for a lot. However the room had a bright emergency light on all night that made staying asleep pretty difficult. The other big downside was the restaurant they partnered with. Belushi’s had awful service and pretty bad food. I’d definitely avoid.I also understand that with lots of guests it’s hard to keep clean but the bathrooms were pretty consistently dirty.Lockers are very hard to operate, silly complaint but makes a difference! However, the staff was very friendly and the luggage storage was really great. If you have bags larger then a carry on however, you will have to pay for a larger locker. Also there is an elevator in the main building!

This is a review of St Christopher’s Inn Edinburgh Old Town, situated across the road from Belushi’s where you get a discount whilst staying in the hostel. Glad I stayed here during my time in Edinburgh. Good people and good facilities. Right across the road from Edinburgh Waverley station where I took a day trip to St Andrew’s. Trains ran on time and were comfortable. Placed right between the old and new town, beside the Princess street gardens. Just a short walk over to the old town where there is lots to see. Cathedrals, buskers playing the bagpipes and much more. Awesome👍

Great hostel! Only a minutes walk from the train station, so right in the heart of the city. Stayed in a 12 bed dorm. …

Great Hostel in a Great Location! The hostel is very central to the city centre and only a 5 min walk from Edinburgh Waverley Station. And about 30 mins from the Airport. Even though it’s in the city the rooms were pretty sound proof ( I had no problem sleeping at all). The rooms were nice and tidy, each bed comes with a privacy curtain and earplugs are available should you have any snoring roommates. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Check in and check out were very smooth as well. Definitely would recommend even if you’re solo travelling like myself.

Location can't get much better, but everything else was pretty bad. If your room is across the street from the front desk (i.e. next to Belushi's), it's gonna be *really* loud at night. On a Friday and Saturday night - I'm not exaggerating - it sounded like we were INSIDE the bar while the live band played. The mattresses are bad, the pillows and blankets are laughable, and the staff were pretty unhelpful. I know you get what you pay for with a hostel, but this one ranked pretty low for me.

Our stay was comfortable. The locker room was little bit smelly, but we didn’t use the locker room that so we didn’t bother. Bed, room, bathroom - everything was clean. Luckily, We got very quiet and gentle roommates. Under the bunk bed, there is locker box to use. You can bring your own lock and key and can keep your things in safe just in case. I would recommend to include breakfast with your stay. It is very convenient. The location of the hostel is beside the train station, just 1-2 mins walk, which was a positive point for us.
