The perfect short break for our family of 3. Slackbrae is a wonderful cottage, in a peaceful setting, kitted out with everything you could ever need - all of superb quality. Victoria was there to greet us and assist with our luggage. She explained the history of the cottage and its beautiful renovation, helped my daughter identify herbs to make tea, and made us feel completely at home. Her team were equally helpful, bringing bikes to the cottage at short notice and hosting a nature tour and tree planting. We had a picnic delivered and enjoyed local trips to the Dollar bookstore and local farm shop. Only wish we could have stayed longer. Well worth a visit.

Delighted to have stumbled across these cabins on a Google search.Great communication from the team, really friendly welcome and a perfectly stocked secluded cabin. We took our dog and the owners had thought of everything doggy related (bowls, long lead, bed, poop bags, treats, tick removal tool)!Recycling was made easy and the showering products were lovely. The sourdough bread, local honey and coffee were so appreciated.Would absolutely stay again and definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a beautifully decorated eco friendly cabin surrounded by woodland and nature.

We started our summer holidays with five days at Mertrick Bothy - and what should I stay: it was the perfect beginning and I wish we could have stayed longer. The nature, the view, surrounding, the interior design, the bed ... we were just happy that we came here and - if possible - it wasn't the last time. Big thanks also to Drew, Graham and Mihail for their warm welcome, time in the woods and the support.

A fantastic place to stay in a beautiful location. We stayed in Slackbrae. The accommodation is amazing with everything you could need or want and as other reviews have stated Dawid was very helpful and informative about the area and accommodation. It was a great base to explore from including Lochs, a beach, places of historic interest, as well as great walks around the estate itself. Also a great place to just watch wildlife from the dining area. There is still much more exploring to do and we are looking forward to a return visit in the future. We explore Britain a lot and this has been certainly the best accommodation for comfort with great lighting and facilities. My only regret was that it was not cold enough to use the woodburner which had set up if required.Thank you for making us feel so welcome and going the extra mile for the dogs with beds and treats which they used and loved.

Perfect and beautiful location only 40min drive from Edinburgh. Lots of space to rest but also walk and cycle. Incredible hospitality fani we even got to plant some trees! And on top of that - dog friendly! Can't wait to come back soon. Absolutely wonderful place for both rest or a little mini workatation.

This was our 2nd trip to Slackbrae and once again absolutely loved it. 4 adults, 1 infant and dogs!! Everything was perfect. David is super friendly and helpful, even dropped off a few balls for the wee one to play with and made sure the grass was cut for him.Kitchen is very well equipped with everything you'd need.

My family and I were lucky enough to stay in the beautiful Slackbrae cottage on Brucefield estate. The cottage has renovated to the highest of standards with sustainability in mind and has a fabulous open light design (which you only really appreciate when you step inside). It includes everything you can think of (and everything you wouldn’t). The light that they have created with floor to ceiling windows gives you the most stunning view of the forests and countryside surrounding the cottage. We all (adults, children and dog) felt instantly at home. The service is five stars ⭐️ with Dawid helping us with everything from reservations to football and frisbee requests. Five star stay in the most beautiful scenic location.
