Stopped overnight on our way home from holiday on north coast. Good food and lovely room. Darroch our black Labrador made welcome too. Great stay. Open fires make for cosy public areas. Bar well stocked and menu has something for everyone . Hopefully will be back soon.

I had a very warm welcome to the hotel. There is a lovely ambience there with extremely helpful and friendly staff. The single room was comfortable. There had a problem with regulating the shower temperature. …

I would rate this as the least good value for money accommodation of our tour of Scotland. It was also the smallest room though the room was otherwise good except for it being mildly annoying that it vibrated whenever a large vehicle drove past. The food we had was stunningly good. Even though we enjoyed a great gourmet meal elsewhere the night before we arrived, I would say that the Rowan Trees aubergine rolls were the culinary highlight of our Scotland tour. We were surprised that when we arrived we were only offered breakfast times between 8.30 and 9am even though I pressed for something earlier. When we came down at 8.30 the table wasn't ready so we had to wait a short while even then. Fortunately this just meant that we arrived later than planned at our first stop, but on other days of our tour it would have mean missing breakfast altogether.

We booked a four night stay here in early June. The room was perfectly comfortable and the staff were all very pleasant. Cleanliness was also good. The fact it is dog friendly was a big plus for us. …

Selected initially simply for location and because it is dog friendly, I was going to be doing some serious hill walking over the weekend and just wanted somewhere that could provide a comfy bed and a hot shower at the end of each day. …

Visited for dinner. We had our dog with us but they were happy to find us a table in the bar area, next to the restaurant. The service was welcoming and efficient and the food was exceptional. Not cheap, but great value nonetheless. Would thoroughly recommend.

Me and my partner stayed here for 3 nights and we couldn’t fault the place at all. It was one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The location was perfect, our room was nice and comfortable, the staff were all very friendly and the food was amazing! We will definitely come back again.

Disappointing stay this time.Dinner menu had at least 3 items not available and all beef dishes had a supplementary charge which we only discovered by chance as it was not marked on the menu.Breakfast was even more disappointing.Booked for 09.00hrs, chose our menu. Arrived at dining area at 09.00hrs, served main course at 09.30, by which time the coffee was finished and the toast was cold and chewy. The waiting staff were doing their best, but the kitchen staff were not making life easy for them. It's unlikely we shall return.
