Having worked in hostels myself, I thought this one was very charming! Great location, very good facilities including large self catering kitchen, dining room, lovely lounge, non-stinky drying room and well-stocked shop. The place is obviously very well looked after and clean, and we loved our cosy room, with its circular window. The beds were comfy and the simple breakfast was an added bonus. The shower was lovely and hot with great pressure! Staff here were lovely, very welcoming and friendly. Would recommend this place to anyone! The only downside (and it's not really in the hostel's control), there were 9 very loud deer out on the lawn all night! It was quiet funny really, but if you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend earplugs!

Our stay at the Explorers Lodge worked out really well for us. Our mission was to climb the two Munros accessible via Glen Traligill, so the location couldn’t have been better. …

We made this booking only 2 days prior to our trip to the Highlands. It was a good central point to visit all the places we wanted to see. The staff were most kind and welcoming from the moment we walked in. …

The lodge was an excellent base, central in the area with tons of adventures within an hour drive. Well stocked shop, with booze, as the closest grocery store is a bit of a trek. …

Very nice old building, clean and well.organized. We enjoyed the kitchen and the outdoor table. The midges enjoyed us too ... Plenty of birds flying around. Friendly crew, always ready to help for hikes or visits. We recommend this place in the highlands.

The shepherds hut was a bit like a tardis- everything we needed in a compact space. The bed was full size, good linens, comfy and clean. Our private (external) bathroom was supplied with toiletries. Dogs aren't allowed in the main building.

What a wonderful place! The lodge is super clean and cozy, while its staff is kind, helpful and friendly. Their suggestion of the hike we did was perfect. Moreover, it is surrounded by magical scenery and nature that is beyond magical. I highly recommended it.
