We booked a ton at The Crown Inn at DialPost as was near to a party we were attending and given the very reasonable price, weren’t expecting too much. We therefore couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised on our arrival. Our room (the wildflower room) was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and had a lovely view over the green. However it wasn’t just the room that makes this place a little hidden gem, it’s the staff who were fantastic! We had an issue trying to get a taxi however one of the staff came to our rescue, going above and beyond to save the day and get us to our party! Unfortunately we weren’t here long enough to eat in the restaurant, which looked lovely, however if the food is as good as the rooms and service we received then you’re in for a treat! Many thanks to you all for a superb stay.

I booked this place as it was in close proximity to a wedding we were attending so didn't think much of it but we were really impressed! The service was very attentive, we were able to check in a bit early as we were due to be at the wedding all day. The room was really well furnished, comfy & we enjoyed having the luxury of breakfast in bed with our breakfast hamper we ordered in advance, the day after. We could only stay for a quick bite at lunch but the food menu & stay makes us want to come back with our dog and enjoy a little country getaway.

My favourite pub, the main menu is good but doesn’t change very often. However, that is completely outshone by the specials and today the scallops were very special! So rare to find scallops cooked properly and my friend’s hake was also cooked to perfection. Dog is was also welcomed!

Stopped here for a Sunday roast after a walk at Knepp. Really lovely food, good portion sizes. Menu looked really good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Also had a pint of the Long Man beer which was really good. Would recommend eating here over local options.

Hard times for everyone, including restaurants at the moment, but the constant upselling and money grubbing here was actually quite offensive. How about a fl6 burger with no garnish, charging an extra fl for the gherkin?!How about charging an extra £2 for peas with your £13.50 ham and chips? No? Don't blame you.Having sent me back to get the table number, the barmaid (no there isn't a map at the bar) pointed out that I had to reject a 10, 12.5 or 15% service charge on the card machine. Er, for what exactly? Ordering at the bar? When the food came, they put nothing at all on the burger, and the ham with a garnish of, would you believe, half a cherry tomato and a 2cm leaf of rocket.Actually felt a bit insulting.£45 for two children's meals and a main plus 3 soft drinks. I know times are hard, but come on!To top it off, when they brought out the cutlery and sauces, we were the only table on the garden - but they put them on a different table and told us to get them. All with a rictus grin.Good grief.

My sister and I love the Crown. We've had quite a lot of meals there. The steak sandwich is well worth it. Tender slices of steak. The Sunday roast is delicous and my red wine is a reasonable price. I would highly recommend The Crown.

A last minute Sunday Roast hunt on a bank holiday weekend... at midday for our reservation, plenty of room and well dressed restaurant and bar areas, comfortable and welcoming. The host team are excellent, they are clearly well practiced and well drilled at delivering excellent food in good time and with a smile...Roast Beef and Roast Pork Belly were both first class choices, accompanied by the usual, special note for the Cauliflower Cheese which was unctuous... Dont usually take dessert after a big roast, but the options were too enticing, Chocolate Fondant and a Sticky Toffee Pudding were superb... we took tea and coffee on the patio area (allowing the table to be cleared for 2nd sitting, hats off to the team and chefs!) to digest and natter... perfect Sunday Lunch. Thank you all.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, however a pint of ordinary bitter beer was a staggering £5.50, the most I have ever paid in my lifetime outside of Central London. The beer was in good condition. There were three 'specials' on the menu board, all between an exorbitant £22 and £24; ridiculous! Needless to say we did NOT have lunch. I sincerely hope the owners of this comfortable public house do not price themselves out of business.
