The Chequers Hotel is on the main A29 through Pulborough and the building was renewed after a catastrophic fire in the early 60’s. …

The owners are lovely. Warm, friendly, helpful. The rooms are excellent. Clean, comfortable, definitely great value. The bed was the best we had in 4 weeks of travel. The breakfast menu was excellent, probably the best coffee we had in 4 weeks in the UK.

Groom’s entire family stayed at this hotel, very cheerful and good breakfast, but the BBQ we had was a bit disappointing for £18pp. The barman was also the person on the BBQ who was regularly not at the actually BBQ so much that the father of the groom was frying his own burgers at one point 🤣 this is the only negative, everything else was great!

Stayed overnight after a local wedding. They made a room available so we could check in early as the wedding was at 13.00. Very helpful and friendly. Small, cosy room, with everything you would expect from a hotel, and more.Breakfast cooked to order, cornbread or rye bread, delicious coffee, topped up often.Car park more than big enough for the number of rooms. Lovely view out across fields. We would certainly go again.
