Great location. Very friendly staff. Terrible parking opportunities. Uncomfortable & noisy bed. Duvet required freshening up. Lack of staff presence during night. No security chain on room door.

The hotel had everything we needed. It was clean, nicely furnished and well situated for seafront, pubs and restaurants. The managers were helpful and friendly and there was a comfy little lounge and a bar. It was also dog friendly. We would definitely go back.

The hotel inside was nothing like the photos on Booking.com. The room was small dingy and the so called sea view was non existent. The “wet room” was awful and the toilet needed a very good clean. …

Warning! Security a major issue at this hotel. A year ago, a group of us (6 women) stayed here for a university reunion. Around 2am, a drunken, naked male guest burst into the room of one of our group and exposed himself while she was lying, terrified in bed. After screaming at him, he left only to re-enter a second time a few minutes later. She had locked the door after the first intrusion so it was with horror that she realised he was using a hotel key card. She screamed and thankfully, he left again. The police were called and investigations began. We learned that the intruder had entered other rooms. CCTV showed drunken male guests running through the corridors around the time the incident occurred. We later learned that the hotel is largely unmanned. Access to keys behind Reception appeared to be easy. The locks on a lot of doors were flimsy with no extra chain lock available. We assumed that the intruder would quickly be found. However, the police told us (reportedly) that the hotel did not co-operate fully and the case was closed after 6 weeks! We have put pressure on the police, at various levels, for 12 months to re-open the case but unsuccessfully. We all felt that telling the truth by leaving a review, would severely damage the business/reputation of this small hotel. With no resolution to the enquiry, we now have no choice but to protect other female guests and stop them from making the same choice.

Probably the worst hotel I've stayed in even though this was on Martin Lewis show.No proper lighting on the staircase. Our room situated directly above a pub playing live music on both nights we stayed. I think we should have been told and given an option to move (they weren't fully booked)Flat lemonade in the bar! The owner couldn't work out the music in his bar. Place wasn't hoovered and no hot water on a Sunday morning!Really bad email communication; taking a week to reply!!!Couldn't wait to leave!

Good points first... very clean bedroom and super shower. Great location on the seafront. Now the rest.. our room was on a real slant, walk downhill to the bathroom and back uphill to bed. …

On the positive side, the hotel has just been redecorated; however, that is the only positive comment I can make.My room had a door lock on it that either locked and could not be unlocked from the outside, or failed to lock at all, thereby leaving the room and its contents insecure. In addition, the door to the bathroom would only open part way before hitting the lavatory bowl. The extractor fan in the bathroom was incredibly noisy and, finally, the top cupboard in the wardrobe had not been cleaned properly, leaving dust all over the clothing items placed in it.The twin room, in which the other members of my party were accommodated, had a similar problem with the door handle as my room. There was also no curtain on the window in the bathroom, the frosted glass on its own providing insufficient privacy when using the adjacent toilet. My wife and the other person in the room resorted to showering without turning on the bathroom light, because of the lack of privacy.Whilst the hotel staff have no influence over local car parking, I feel it necessary to point out that parking in nearby car parks is extremely expensive, and parking on the road is very hard to come by. Any potential guests should also note that the hotel does not offer breakfast or dinner. The combination of all the issues detailed above made it so that we could not face the idea of another night in the hotel and, therefore, we checked out after one night and sought accommodation elsewhere.Having been asked to pay the balance of the charges on first arrival at the hotel I spoke to a very polite and apologetic member of staff about requesting a refund of three nights' charges. I was advised that they would speak to a manager who would contact me to discuss the matter but, as yet, I have yet to have that contact, despite me leaving two phone messages and also sending an email. In summary, anyone considering staying at this hotel should look elsewhere.

Extremely disappointing as we booked a room with a Seaview for one night (Sat) which turned out to be a postage stamp of a bedroom and bathroom with nowhere to place your luggage plus site work in front of our Seaview which cost £120 for …

Great hotel in a great location for walks along the promenade and access to local restaurants... parking is hard, but there is some free parking next to and opposite the hotel ... otherwise paid for council owned parking is very nearby... the hotel doesn't supply food, including no breakfast ... but there are plenty of restaurants nearby, including Trams and the Mermaid Cafe...It is quite an old hotel with no lifts ... we took four rooms and they were a great standard for the price ... the rooms were neat and well presented... although the original part of the hotels has older locking systems.Overall we had a great stay and it was a great location with lots of great walks nearby.. unfortunately didn't take any photos of the room but we had a great one...
