This hotel has so much potential to be good. The location is very picturesque, the building from the outside looks grand. However inside it seems unkept and unclean. My room although having a great view was very bland, old fashioned and not particularly clean. The whole inside of the building needs to be refurbished in my option.I will say the staff are were very friendly and helpful. I was certainly not impressed with the breakfast. £140 per night to revive this breakfast is not good at all

Stayed here on a business trip about a month ago, thought the staff were adequate at best.Food was average, although breakfast room was pleasant. The room I stayed in was dirty with some orange type stains on the bed sheets and crumbs at the bottom of the bed. My window wouldn’t shut properly and was letting in a draft. Found a tissue on the floor beside the bedside cabinet. Bathroom floor was sticky to.Location wise was lovely, very nice gardens round the back and a very traditional feel to the hotel. Lovely little town next the hotel.

Such lovely staff, who went above and beyond. Stayed here last weekend and left my pyjamas behind and the kind lady at the front desk (I think she was called Ann) posted them to me, what a legend! The venue and location is also beautiful, and so many nice walks nearby. Great value for money, would really recommend.

The hotel is located a couple of miles outside Crickhowel (perfect for walking the Beacons Way footpath) - a nice looking old building, with plenty of parking on site, & nice views of the hillside. The reception & bar are cosy - the rooms themselves basic & 'tired'. But the staff were friendly & efficient - & the food was outstanding - really tasty (including veggie options) & excellent value for money. Overall a solid 7.5/10.

It could be such a great place but it’s sadly lacking. It looks tired, dated, unkempt, unclean and unwelcoming. There’s no atmosphere or soul. There was nothing Welsh about the decor or outstanding about the interiors. …

Emailed a dining enquiry - no response. |Last year we visited at lunchtime we placed our food order , 15 minutes later told that order was cancelled as chef wasn’t well. Thought I would give them another try … to no avail. I shan’t be trying again

We found this hotel at a fabulous price on booking.com and decided to stay here for a girls trip. We spent the day boating on the river and arrived at the hotel around 5pm. …

We were on a canal boat cruise for 4 nights and didn't feel like cooking. The pub we tried first was closed so went on to The Old Rectory, and are we glad we did! Wow! …
