Average Stay - Great Location, Poor Mattress QualityI recently stayed at the IBIS Cardiff Gate and found it to be clean and conveniently located, especially for those traveling to or from the motorway. The staff were friendly, and the hotel offers good basic amenities. However, the mattress quality was disappointing—it was uncomfortable and provided little support, leading to a restless night’s sleep. While the location is great, improvements to the beds would significantly enhance the overall experience.

Disappointing and dated hotel. It's cheap and there's a reason why!Good points - The staff are excellent. Friendly, welcoming and always on hand to help. The location is just off the M4 so easy to get around.Bad points - The hotel itself is very dated, Rooms are basic. No air con or even a fan, a tiny TV and a thin mattress. The room was clean but definitely dated and in need of a refresh. I couldn't lock the room from the inside. And I didn't like that anyone could walk into the building and get access to the rooms...there was no security between the public areas and the accommodation.Breakfast wasn't bad although all of the jams were empty each day.WiFi was terrible.

Very convenient location but not well lit at night. I arrived by car and the road markings on a wet road, with dim lighting weren't good. It wasn't easy to see where to go. However once I had parked, the facilities inside the services, burger bars and shops etc, were good.

Great place with free parking, right on the Services. Toby Carvery is a 3 minute walk away, although not a great walk as no footpath.|Hotel had a £1 pool table which was good which is card only in the bar. Room alot bigger than other Ibis I've stayed in before. Would stay again if in the area, short drive into Cardiff.

Needed somewhere to stay last minute following a death in the family. The checkin process was efficient and there was plenty of free parking. The bedroom corridor had a smell of cannabis. The bedroom was very basically furnished and appeared dated, with insufficient plug sockets near the bed and a tiny TV. The room was very warm but at least the window opened for some ventilation. The shower was OK but not brilliant.Breakfast was a disappointment. The fresh fruit was past its best (mushy strawberries and tomatoes), the coffee was weak and the orange juice (cordial?) was even weaker. The small hot selection was passable.

Bitterly disappointing. The rooms were a reasonable size, but super hot overnight. Staff’s only solution was a desk fan which turned out to be pointless, just pushing hot air around. Others from our group suffered with no hot water, broken taps, etc. The mattresses were more like a topper with a sheet over them rather than a bed and there were only 3 pillows?! Others in our group suffered no hot water, broken taps, etc., and everyone came downstairs exhausted in the morning only having slept for a few hours each due to conditions. Location was close to highway and service station/fast food but a distance outside of Cardiff CBD. Included breakfast was okay.

Very handy for Cardiff travellers. Nice place. Nice room. Comfortable bed, great toilet/shower room. TV wall-mounted and working well. Great for overnights or short stays. Lift to upper floors. All fine for us two.

Excellent location, straight off the main motorway, located at a service station, so you have a few shops around u too. The hotel consists of 2 floors, a breakfast bar, hotel, pool table, and the usual amenities in a hotel. Electrical car charging ports, too. Staff working the desk are very friendly and cooperative, always offering to help. Decent menu, consisting of veg options too. My only niggle was that the one night we decided to eat at the hotel, everything we could have ate (veg or fish) was unavailable, and as they don't serve halal meat, we couldn't eat there.

Stayed recently for a training course. Was given a room with two single beds. Rooms are extremely basic to say the least and lack any real modern modifications. The room itself is extremely outdated and felt cold and unwelcoming. On booking I was told to take a seat while he served guests drinks which went on for at least 20 minutes and after a 2 hour and 50 minute drive all I wanted to do was get into the room.Would not stay here ever again.
