A quiet nights rest. |Room a little small, with worn furniture. Expensive for what it is.|Staff, without exception, provided a perfunctory service. |Restaurant very slow and service disjointed. …

Visited today with family for Sunday lunch, haven’t been here for several years. The hotel hasn’t changed, it felt dated and lacked atmosphere. The Sunday lunch was disappointing mainly because the beef was tough as leather. …

Not at all a 4* experience...i was really disapointed to to be honest. The room was not cheap for a x2 night stay so I expected a lot more.Firstly the location was great and was within walking distance of everything Usk had to offer. Lots of parking available. The breakfast was adequate with decent quality and portion size; the full english was fresh enough but let down by the concentrated juices and budget yogurt, 'granola' / muesli options.Hotel staff weren't very accommodating to me arriving late at night after my travel was severly delayed. The check in / check out times are highly regimented and there was no flexibility or consideration for a later start in the morning - breakfast ends swiftly at 09:30 AM and the cleaners start turning over neighbouring rooms dot on 10:00 AM. Thundering up and down the corridors with hoovers and chatting loudly. What more the customer service was also just sub par. Our hot water never worked proprely for the entire stay. Despite reporting this to reception it took a further three follow-up phonecalls and a walk down to reception before anyone let us know it had even been actioned. It never actually worked, we just had to shower in lukewarm water, fine in August, but would have been fairly unpleasant in a Welsh winter.. No apology, or solution offered, we were just told to wait which wasn't ideal given the fact we were on a time limit to get ready for a wedding that afternoon. The staff at breakfast simarly didn't seem to know what they were doing and it took a good hour to recieve everything from our order.Room in general and all of the room's amenities were extremely dated, broken or missing; budget hair dryer stopped working after 5 minutes, no iron (we borrowed from a neighbouring room) which also stopped working after one use. Two plugs in the whole room and nowhere near a mirror. Would not recommend as a good place when getting ready for a wedding in. Room itself was cluttered with unnecessary armchairs and generally looked tired. Not quaint or twee as the pictures would suggest.Surprised this place has 4*.
