The Hand Hotel, It has its own carpark and is so central to everything. The Staff are so helpful and we had a wonderful evening looking at the wild life on the river while sipping drinks at the open air beer garden. …

Friendly staff in a centrally located hotel. The room had two windows with amazing views of the river. The bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was really tasty and served in a room also overlooking the river. The only downside was that the rooms are a little tired in terms of decor. However a major refurbishment is planned for 2020 so that is being addressed. Will definitely revisit after the refurbishment

Lovely hotel backing onto the river in the heart of this beautiful town. Rather faded in areas and reception staff not as welcoming as I would have liked but that said we loved the time spent here. The bedroom was beautiful, large and with double aspect overlooking the river. The hotel was well situated with easy walk to the railway station and canal. Lots of interesting eating places within easy walk.

Staff were really friendly and very helpful. Although the room was a little dated it was very clean & had everything we needed. We took our dog with us so wasn't expecting it to be as good a room as it was.The staff even made our dog welcome. The food was good & reasonably priced too. Well recommended. My one bit of advice is do not have room on front of hotel as the road never stops, not hotels fault obviously.

Location is amazing and the rooms over the river have great views. The breakfast was great and staff were really attentive. The place is just a bit tired. We had no hot water or heating on the first night but it was late so we opted to snuggle up under the blanket (not a duvet). The mattress was more lumpy than my missus's gravy and the floorboards creaked like her hips....It's ok but dated.

Excellent service. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was lovely. Only gripes are the lack of ventilation in my room; no air vent, just one small window. The result? Roasting every night. The only other issue was the shower; very very weak. No pressure - had the strength of a slightly tilted watering can, and the temperature was such that, even with the hot tap all the way up and the cold tap off, it was barely lukewarm. Room 202 btw.

A little older than hotels I stay in usually. Disappointed there was no evening food. Interesting sloped floor in our room meant you felt like you were on a ship! Electrical problem sorted very quickly but could have been potentially very dangerous. That said it had a great view, good service and excellent breakfasts.

A diamond in the rough! Great place we had beer battered gluten free fish and chips and sat on the balcony over the river! Also they were really dog friendly welcomed us to sit inside or outside! The meal was filling, clean and tasty!
