We had a lovely double room on the main floor facing the back of the house. Cath was a gracious hostess, helping us get oriented to the city and showing us how to use the public bus systems. The continental breakfasts were delicious and filling. Highly recommend for couples or solo travelers.

We had a most enjoyable stay here. The host was wonderful and helpful, so many extra touches which were appreciated. Tea and coffee in room, magnifying mirror in bathroom. Warm towels on the heated rail. Breakfast continental in style involving cereal, juice, pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, tea/coffee etc. Kind host had recycling facilities for residents and was mindful of not using single use plastics. Lovely warm house. We were helped with which bus to take to city and given advice re places to see. Buses stopped nearby. On a busy road so easy access and parking but light sleepers better in rear rooms. Excellent.

A beautiful house with a really lovely lady running the place. Rooms were spacious and clean with tea and coffee in the room and a large bathroom. Breakfast was ordered each night included in the price for a chosen time and was very nice and very filling. Such a friendly welcome, lovely atmosphere. Good location with regular buses up the road to the centre but very walkable within 20mins too.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at Alba House. Cath was so lovely and gave us lots of tips for tours and sightseeing. For breakfast we had cereal and toast - perfect to keep you going for the day without feeling to stuffed afterwards. The House is just a little outside the city Center, so you can either take the bus or walk (approx. 50 min to castle). We walked everywhere and Alba house was a great starting point for all our tours. We would definitely recommend this lovely house to anyone wanting to explore Edinburgh and it’s surroundings.

Location is amazing! You can take a bus just in front of the house. The owner Cathy is a gorgeous person. You can communicate with her in any case. The rooms are so clean and warm. The hotel is a Victorian building that embraces you mystically. You can find yourself in ancient times in the building. I strongly recommend experiencing this environment. We are just fascinated.
