This is an old house, but simply charming. As with old houses there are noises from the pipes and people walking around. The mattress was new and comfortable. David was a wonderful host and very helpful with information about Edinburgh. There was a dog and a cat, so be warned if you are allergic. The dog was super friendly. The cat not so much. Breakfast was great and we would definitely stay there again.

We spent four nights in Spylaw Bank House during our Scotland road trip (two upon arrival and two before departure). We stayed in the master bedroom facing south with the Pentland Hills in the background. …

We drive down the drive way to see the grand house. We had a warm greeting from the owner David. The house is quirky but homely. It'sfurnished to fit the era (Georgian). We had the master bedroom, with a bed that could fit 3 or 4 people comfortably. The ensuite was lovely with a large bath. The owners provided all the toiletries you would need. The full breakfast was substantial and nothing was too much. The owner David, was a fountain of knowledge, with what to see. He also advised us to take the bus into the city instead of driving how right he was, one ticket lasted us all day for £4.50, and the buses were regular and clean!

A traditional stone built Georgian former farmhouse, full of original details and furniture, which is now operated as a 3 room B&B.The huge room had a king size bed and en-suite shower room. The host was friendly and helpful and provided a great cooked breakfast according to our specific requests.Parking is on a gravelled area at the front of the house. The house is located close to the 44 bus route into the city centre which is useful as car parking in Edinburgh is at a premium, and the new low emissions zone restricts the use of some older vehicles. If you prefer a traditional stay rather than a modern hotel experience, this is the place to go !

Great Place, Great Service. The Place is clean and every Morning you get a nice english breakfast. David is a great Host and does everything to be as helpful as possible. He also has a lot of Insider Information to offer, and is willing to share if wanted. If there was anything I had to complain about it would be that his cat didn't appreciate me as much as I did the cat. But such is Life!

Stayed here prior to collecting guests from Edinburgh. It is the most amazing house, I believe George Gillespie built it for his mother in the 1790s(?) …
