What a lucky find. We’ve driven past here a number of times, but never thought to drop in for food. The tomato soup was the best I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve had a lot of soup! The hake was delicious, and everyone else was delighted with their dishes. Portion sizes were all perfect too. I think the bill came to £230 for four adults having starters and mains, three kids meals, bottle of wine, a cocktail and a round of soft drinks. Not cheap, but for a monthly Saturday treat, it was money well spent.

Had dinner here last night, was very disappointed. We had been many years ago and the food was fantastic but this time we recieved a burnt burger (roll and burger burnt) and cold, bog standard Sunday roast. Also got our starter order wrong. Sad to say we won't be back. We didn't say anything at the time because it was for out daughters birthday and didn't want to spoil the atmosphere.

Food was delicious. Full breakfast in the morning with a nice coffee to start which was the perfect amount and then later in the day had the steak pie with the mash and turnip with a wee twist. Loved it. Stayed in room 5 would highly recommend. Also plenty parking on site will come again soon.

What an amazing place, the rooms are super cosy and well equipped with ironing board, hair dryer, tongs and a good supply of either freshly ground coffee or regular instant. The large roll top bath at the bottom of the bed was perfect to warm up after a long cold day whilst watching tv and the separate shower room was ideal for convenience. What made this place special though was the restaurant, all of the staff were super friendly and the food was outstanding. I had a special soup of spiced carrot with belly pork two evenings on the trot, had I been staying another week it would have had another 7 times. The first evening I opted for the Cajun chicken breast with coconut rice and pak Choi for the main course, it’s so easy to over cook chicken breast but a good sign of a decent chef when it’s cooked to perfection retaining juices which it came as no surprise that it did and did not disappoint, the second evening I went for haddock scotch egg and the fish pie which once again were absolutely superb. Amazing food, cosy rooms and proper friendly staff, do not pass this place without visiting.

As always the service in the restaurant is a bit peculiar, you could say rustic... :-) But the food is simply divine. Hats off to the chef, everything was absolutely delicious. Prawn cocktail was as fresh as a daisy, fish &chips crispy and light (and huge!), the monkfish curry with coconut rice, a home made poppadom and tangy mango relish an absolute delight, and the deserts, particularly the ice cream, creative to say the least. I keep bringing visitors here, and am not disappointed. Will come back! (Sorry can't say anything about rooms as didn't stay here)

We had a very enjoyable meal for our anniversary. I had the cauliflower starter, curried monkfish and prawns and apple crumble with homemade ice cream. Hubby had prawn cocktail, pork belly and sticky toffee pudding. We had read some negative reviews in between the positives and can say that all food was lovely. I suppose you can't please everyone. Staff friendly and decor nice . Had quite alot of customers too

We met friends for lunch here today, 19 May. Convenient location for us. We have been here several times before but would hesitate to return due to the food quality and poor value for money.Positives:Lovely tablet with coffee.Good location.Bright extension.Good cauliflower cheese.Good bread.Negatives:Disappointing roast beef, two thin slices of beef like sandwich meat, well cooked and not medium rare. Inedible Yorkshire pudding.Brown bread and marmalade ice-cream - where was the marmalade? One small scoop for £3.Service not very warm or efficient from some staff.Entry way tired, flower planters full of weeds. Some seat pads were filthy. So disappointed today. Used to be a treat, now feels like a Harvester.
