Lovely village location, had a few drinks in the pub downstairs, easy on street parking. Tiny bathroom and I wish they had gone for king size beds!! Good value option and friendly staff. We didn’t stay for breakfast as we were visiting family

Really nice rural location about 10 minutes from Haddington . Beautifully renovated including a lovely beer garden.Visited the restaurant today and we were warmly welcomed, order taken, drinks served… never saw the waitress again! My steak pie was an individual, shortcrust pie with a thin flakey pastry 🥮 top. A small amount of mashed potatoes, tinged with yellow accompanied by raw carrots 🥕 and one asparagus spear cooked perfectly. My husband chose fish and chips but the fish looked anaemic. In saying that, he said it tasted ok.We were not asked about dessert or another drink so we went up to the bar and paid. Not for me I am afraid.

I’ve been coming to the Goblin Ha’ since childhood, back in the 1950s and I’ve observed its evolution over the decades. Hit hard by Covid. Changed hands a few times. Personnel issues arose from Brexit, etc., etc. But it’s still here and trying to be excellent. New owner/manager has done a masterful job in refreshing and renewing the bar, restaurant inside and out. All in all, based on my recent visit in find the place again in good hands, with a positive attitude to succeed - and I wish them well. If you’re in the area, passing through, or looking for a nice day trip out of the city or suburbs I’d recommend you give them a try. I was well pleased. And, no, I’m not being paid for this review😁

ADVISE ANYONE WHOS BOOKED WITH BOOKNG COM TO CHECK THE BOOKING!Had a booking since June set for 11th August for 1 night for 8 people, we though the price was reasonable and affordable. 1 week before the booking I contacted the hotel to ask how many rooms will be provided to us considering there’s 8 of us. I was then contacted by someone named Graham Smith who point blank lied to me stating we do not have or never have had a booking with them.We provided all the proof that we did infact have a booking with them to be told that they where not going to honour it unless we paid an additional £113.I’m glad I actually checked as was going to be driving 4 hours to this hotel and would have ruined our weekend plans.

Food was OK, wasn't amazing but hit the spot for the price. Service was perhaps a little slow as it was quiet but very friendly. Nice location out in the country. Didn't stay so don't know about the rooms / hotel.Would visit again if in the area.
