Loved my stay at Rathan House! Ewan & Irene made every effort to make my stay enjoyable. From lovely breakfasts to tips on sightseeing, general conversation and their two beautiful dogs . A lovely place to stay with everything one might need nearby, including public transport. 10/10

I’m leaving a 5-star review because of the service Ewan provided even though I wasn’t even a patron of this hotel. I was planning a trip for my wife and I through Scotland and wanted to book two nights at The Eskbank; tried to do this through the website but didn’t get a confirmation so I emailed to investigate. One of the owners, Ewan, emailed back to say they were going to be on holiday and wouldn’t be able to accommodate us, but would do some digging for other B&Bs nearby. The next morning he sent another email saying he contacted Carolyn at Aaron Glen Guesthouse on my behalf to check availability, said they had a room available for us, and provided contact info while also promoting the merits of this other establishment. We ended up staying at Aaron Glen and it was as great as he advertised, so I wanted to make sure I noted publicly how helpful Ewan was even though he didn’t need to be. If this display of going above and beyond for good customer service is any indication, staying at The Eskbank Hotel would be a wonderful experience.

20plus stars they need. Wonderful people run this place. Greatest to stay in Scotland. Easy transportation. Everything leads to Edinburgh. Grocery store Morrison nearby. You'll meet many cultures here. French to Germany, Africa.Breakfast is long lasting. You'll enjoy Ewan and his wife. Allow them to know your dietary needs. The garden is great. They have wonderful dogs.

Didn't get the chance to stay as after booking online, I later got the emailed message ||"Actually we have no rooms left. We are going to have to ask you to cance;l (sic)"||No apology or explanation why they were taking bookings when the hotel was full.
