The hotel is in a great location, very upmarket part of Edinburgh. The staff Matthew and Andrew were so helpful and friendly. We were only there to lay our heads as we had an action packed weekend. …

Old Georgian Hotel in the West End of Edingburgh. Lovely old building with some original features. A VERY large number of stairs to climb, especially if you are on the top floor. Certainly not suitable for the less mobile. Some lovely views of the rooftops and in a really quiet location situated about a 20min walk to Princes Street. The rooms are very dated but reasonably comfortable, but our shower was in a bath with mouldy sealant and quite a tired and worn out finish. It was not possible to have a bath, however, due to only having shower taps fitted. There was plenty of hot water to be had, Surrounding area has a multitude of bars and eating places to choose from ranging from relatively cheap to more expensive. The staff were all wonderfully friendly and helpful, even taking our cases up to our room and putting our coats in the wardrobe!! We were always greeted with a friendly smile from Andrew and Neil, and they were always happy to assist us if needed.

We loved this hotel. It was wonderfully situated close to the tram and Princes Street, so we were central to everything, and because we were there for an author conference, we were also closely situated to the EICC, where we needed to attend two days. The staff were so friendly and kind, and couldn't do enough to help us. The rooms are very large and spacious, with private bathrooms and a lovely street view of Edinburgh. And there's a cute bar opposite reception that we had a drink in, to relax and unwind.Would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Edinburgh.

The hotel is in an impressive building. We were on the very top floor, so lots of steps. The staff were helpful when I had phoned them earlier in the day, as we arrived late in the evening.  …

4 stars service goes to Andrew. Others have no communication and no respect when guests sleep. Every door downstairs is squeeky. Kettle doesn't work properly. Won't be back. It's not even worth the price we pay.

This is a lovely old Georgian hotel in a quiet neighbor in the West End. It is a 5 minute walk from the West End tram stop, which makes airport trips easy. …

This hotel is in a great location and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately I don't really have anything else positive to say. The room was very dirty. It had not had a proper clean in ages and was very run down. …

We began our British holiday by visiting Edinburgh by staying at the Thistle Edinburgh. It is well located for some sites. The staff was courteous and helpful.||The hotel is converted from an old townhouse.  …

This is an old, dated hotel. The room we stayed in was on the top floor and there was no lift! My husband is disabled (ankylosis spondylitis) and we are both in our sixties.  …
