Had a 5-night stay here on the last few days of a tour. The room I had was very spacious and had all the amenities I'd expect from a Hilton. …

Upgraded to a large Queen Executive room the day before arrival. Well appointed room with a view to North Berwick Law in the distance. |Executive lounge open midday to 10pm. …

A great stay! The location is everything for this hotel. It is half a block from the Royal Mile and a block from the train station. Plenty of places to eat and tons of sights to see right around the corner.  …

The rooms here are TINY. For this price point I would expect a lot more, but the rooms here are so small and the food (breakfast and lounge) and service was way below par. The room at this location was so small, my bathroom at home is larger. I could touch the two walls at each side of the bed with my hands. When we asked the front desk about this, they insisted they had no other bigger rooms at all, on the whole property. For breakfast no one comes to the table to take your order, the staff is rude and look like they’re doing you a favor and the food itself lacks flavor. The afternoon reception at the lounge has low quality food and no variety. At check in we were not informed of any amenities at the hotel, or given the envelope with the details on it, and I’m a diamond member! Compared to the standard that other Hilton’s set, the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton felt like a motel. The only plus about the property was the location. Bad service, bad food, small room. Not worth the price per night.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton. The hotel was in a great location just off The Royal Mile and was convenient to walk most of the city center. Our room was nice and clean. We especially enjoyed our breakfast and the use of the Executive Dining room as a Hilton Diamond member. We wanted to commend the Australian supervisor who greeted and served us quite often in the dining areas. Can't remember her name but believe it was Emily and found her to be very efficient and friendly. A great visit and highly recommended. Greetings from Michigan.

We stayed at the Hilton Carlton Edinburgh for 8 days. For a supposedly “four-star” hotel, the rooms were incredibly basic. Ours smelled like someone had smoked cigarettes in it in the not-too-distant past, and the air was dusty, as well. There was construction going on all over the building, so there was limited elevator space, and much of the hotel was blocked off. The construction was going on in front of the building, as well, which really detracted from the feeling of being in a “classic” Edinburgh hotel. Fitness center was cramped and not very well equipped, and there was no pool. The in-house dining wasn’t great, and generally, it was like a maze to get anywhere in the building. The only positive was its central location right off the Royal Mile. Sadly I have to say this is fairly standard among Hilton Hotels now. Another once great brand fallen to corporate cost-cutting and overall decline in quality.

Gorgeous hotel.||Check in was quick, friendly and informative. Stayed on the 5th floor, the room was lovely, spotlessly clean, beds and feather pillows were very comfortable, and it was very very quiet. …

We had a great room. I think it was bigger than the standard room. We had a separate area with a desk, chair for reading, the TV, and a closet.I loved the bathroom. The shower had good water pressure and had a steady temperature that was easy to set. There was also plenty of light for putting on makeup. It even had a magnified mirror which I love to use! Plenty of counter space for two. And, of course, clean. The staff was friendly down to the cleaning and maintenance crew which was a first for me.The lounge food and drinks was good. One night they had Indian onion pakoras that were delicious! The location couldn't be better. It's right "next" to the train station but not it's about 5 stories ABOVE the train station. We thought we would just walk across the street but was surprised we had to go up five or six flights of stairs after crossing the street. The good news is you have no sense of the trains being right next to the hotel. And the hotel is 1/2 block from the Royal Mile that has so many restaurants, museums, shops, etc. Buses for tours start a few blocks up the Royal Mile. It's an easy walk to Market Street and Prince's Street.

Awful hotel that is definitely not 4* and the service is not at Hilton level at all….The hotel goes under the renovation and there were only 2 lifts with queues and they are also used by the staff tooWe had a room for 3 people and had all set up for two people only, the room was dirty with hair in the shower and the ceiling. When I took the shower the pipe was blocked and the water started to leak to the bathroom… yes they sorted the problem quite quickly but still was not great experienceThere were no slippers and bathrobes. I asked for x3 slippers and they brought only one pair. I asked again and they brought only one pair again. On the third time they brought two pairs…. When I asked for 3!!! And still no bathrobes. We asked for additional blanket and it was in a random location after the room was cleaned. The room was cleaned badly on the next day we stayed. My pajamas was thrown elsewhere and I found it on the table, the towels we put on the floor to be replaced were fold dirty on the shelves… the blanket was in a random location and the cleaner did not pay any attention at all left the room dirty. Very disrespectfulI felt that I had to beg for the things we are supposed to get in this kind of hotels. Shocking!!!Yes they compensated with a complimentary breakfast which was good but still the service was bad. They sent the cleaner and by the time she came we were already sleeping. And she did not speak any English … very disappointedRoom 210, 26.10-28.10 2024
