Very helpful and patient staff at all hours. Our rooms had larger bathrooms than the cramped ones in a lot of hotels. Breakfast is a bit pricey, but that and the bar in the lobby are nice to have. The location is excellent, lots of stuff within walking distance, very convenient transit access, and cabs tend to be waiting right in front of the building at almost any hour of the day. The lobby also has some sort of sun rooms attached, where you can look out across the square.

Great city centre location, on George Square, next to Queen Street station, also handy for bus station and Central Station. You can see this has been a grand hotel in its day, with wide corridors on the bedroom floors. …

Impressive entrance with lovely, very helpful staff and good sized rooms. Very clean with comfy beds. Some bits are a little run down, but you're there to sleep. The shower does the job and my daughter very much enjoyed the bath, though I noticed the handrail at the bath was a bit loose. It mentioned stunning views of George Square but in our room there were net curtains between the window and the secondary glazing, so we couldn't see anything. The glazing works though, there was barely any noise for a Saturday night in such a busy area. Good little kettle and well stocked coffee and tea etc. I'd stay again.

Fairly old hotel that would benefit from some modernisation, but this is not the problem. The location is good but the problems are partly related to this. Music outside the hotel from "buskers" with a speaker until midnight. Really? Can't they be moved on?One night woken up by an argument outside at 3am closely followed by police sirens.Another night awoken at 2.50am from someone watching TV in the next room and then again at 4.50am from someone drying their hair.If you like free entertainment keeping you up through the night, a great place to stay. If you plan on sleeping at night, avoid or ask for a room that does not face the square.*Edit in response to hotel reply*I had not reported the noise outside to the hotel so to say I was told to report to the police is untrue. The busking did not finish at 11, it ended at 12. As a customer, I do not feel it is the customer's responsibility to report busking to the police - the hotel would have been aware of this and should be their responsibility.I originally gave the hotel 2 stars in my review but as they have lied in their response, I am moving this down to one star.

Fabulous stay. Can’t fault this hotel. Fabulous location in the town centre opposite a beautiful square yet quiet. Friendly staff. Large, homely, comfortable and bright bedroom.| Continental breakfast is only £5.00. The porridge is excellent. Great choice of fruit . Bread selection is limited.

It’s difficult hotel to review as the staff are lovely and helpful. The room was huge and as clean as it could be. The location is perfect for getting around Glasgow. However, the hotel is in desperate need of an overhaul on every level. …

I must be missing something after reading these reviews. This hotel was horrible. My wife and I were given a room that looked to us to be a converted closet. Smallest room I've ever stayed in.  …
