I stayed at the Sandyford again this weekend. This time in a single room. |It’s not huge but perfectly adequate and comfortable. |Lovely shower in the bathroom. I had the breakfast, not in clouded in my room rate this time but great value for £8.50.Staff are so lovely and so helpful. |Great location for bars restaurants etc.

It was a fantastic stay for the night and a great priced room as I booked due to attending a gig locally. I was expecting something more basic as Tripadvisor reviews were a bit harsh.I use a stick to get about mainly, and was greeted on arrival and the reception staff, lovely young lady, checked me in and carted my case up the stairs for me and immediately reassigned a room on the ground floor, which was amazing service. Thank you!The room was lovely and cosy, the heating was on, loved it, room and bathroom spotless, better than any mainstream hotel in my opinion and brilliant staff, really friendly. For the price I didn't expect top quality. I think some reviews are really unfair. 10/10

AVOID!! Not the hotel it used to be if the absolutely sarcastic & cheeky receptionist was anything to go by this morning. I use the term receptionist loosely.||The hotels management & owners will be hearing from me on this directly. …

There is no lift; only old-style narrow spiral staircase. I arrive too late. The receptionist was so nice and welcoming. …

I booked the Sandyford for two nights. However the room was on the attic floor, and was very poor indeed. The bathroom ceiling had not been plastered, the bathroom was very tired, and the room actually smelled. It was certainly not as good as any of the pictures on the booking site. I went to reception to complain and although the receptionist was very pleasant she could not give me another room as the hotel was fully booked - my booking had been last minute. She did offer to move me the next night, but after seeing the quality of the room I was given I didn't feel that I could stay another night. I would not recommend it.

This is a mixed review based on 2 separate nights in 2 separate rooms within the same week. The first night was really nice, we were on a upper floor. The room was clean and nice , the bed was comfortable and the shower room was lovely. This was the reason we decided to keep our second booking later in the week. Now the second room. Oh dear. The bed was possibly the most uncomfortable bed i have ever slept in with the back pain in the morning as a souvenir. The springs were literally flat and there old.The room was very dated. It felt like this was the room they throw you when there is nothing left. The furnishings were old / marked and shabby, the shower curtain didn’t seem long enough to reach the bottom so of the tray. Old yellow stained rings hung on the rail and rust in places. What baffles me is the contrast of the 2 rooms yet the same price applies. It has put me of coming back.Pictures on trip advisor

This is frankly the worst hotel we've had the displeasure of ever visiting and we wouldn't sleep a night in the room they put us in even if they paid us for it. …

It’s not the Ritz. Very basic and needing a lick of paint in the rooms etc but comfy bed and done the job in a good area. We only needed a place to put our heads after a concert and it fitted the bill. …
