We recently stayed in beautiful Castle Cary at the wonderful George Hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful, always smiling! Our room had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The hotel was perfectly placed for visits to Glastonbury, Wells and the Fleet Air Arm Museum, so we had a great base to travel from and back to again. We ate at The George several times during our stay (breakfast, lunch and evening meal) and without fail, every time, the food was excellent, especially dinner in the restaurant one evening and the Sunday roast. We’d definitely book to stay again!

Superb place to stay...all staff were fantastic, attentive, polite. The rooms clean and well decorated, comfortable, the food was excellent (well done chef..even through a power cut)and the landlord who came to our rescue when the taxis let us down and went above and beyond his job to ferry us around. This is how a pub/hotel should be run. Again we'll done to all staff Inc the two room maids. Even the locals at the bar were talkative and friendly.. I would definatley stay here again. Highly recommended.

During a weekend stay in the area we ate lunch and breakfast here, also some drinks in the evening. The staff are all very welcoming, the lunches were enjoyed by all 8 of us, the portions are really generous. Breakfast was also really tasty and the service really friendly and laid back. The house cocktails are worth a try!

We used to love coming to the George, the food is lovely & it has a great atmosphere. However, we were shocked to see that the prices have gone up significantly, not just by a couple of pounds either. …

Hotel is in a great location and could not fault the staff - they were very friendly and welcoming. Sadly, the room felt quite tired and not that clean. We’re not particularly fussy but it felt like a bit of a rushed cleaning job. Hairs in toilet, cobwebs, dust, pillow cases not fully tucked etc. We do understand that it’s an old building but a little extra TLC would make all the difference.

Due to a structural collapse of our exterior staircase, myself and my neighbours were booked rooms in this hotel. The staff were so accommodating to our neighbour with disability (they weren't prewarned by the company that booked us here). They allowed us to have our cats with us due to the circumstances and even asked if we needed food and litter for the cats. We were well prepared, but the thought was so considerate. They were so easy to talk to and really friendly. Breakfasts were delicious as was dinner (highly recommend their burgers!!). They made us so welcome after a very stressful ordeal for all of us, including the cats! If we were there under different circumstances, it would have been a perfect experience!

Unfortunately The George Cary was a total disappointment! On arriving and booking three doubles , all rooms unclean and not well presented. …
