Didn’t stay in accommodation, but was recommended the Lamb Wellington in the restaurant which is attached to the public bar. Quiet on a Monday evening, but the portions were hearty (esp the smoked salmon) and the signature dish had an interesting spin in that the lamb was ‘pulled’ first and then rolled into a light pasty crust and served with a minted gravy and boiled new potatoes which were lightly finished in the roasting oven. Quite delicious. The young ladies working front of house were suitably gregarious and welcoming and this is definitely one of the better local hostelries for decent pub grub.

A little noisy at night but to be expected for an inn on a main road/junction.The room is charming and warm, the breakfast bowl is a lovely idea but not great if you have allergies! The evening meal was good too with huge portions and most importantly well kept beer!

I came here with my family for my retirement meal, there was 28 of us in total. We pre-ordered and the food and drinks came out efficiently. The service was great. Thankyou to Pauline and her staff who made the experience very enjoyable and stress free considering there were 12 children in our party.

We stayed in the Bird Cage room, it was a lovely room finished to a high standard. Generally clean, The top of the leather bed needs a good dust as do the lights and mirror. It was quite thick so this hasn’t been done for a while. …

Didn't stay here but stopped for lunch. The pub itself is a lovely place, clean, very roomy. The service was excellent. We hadn't booked a table, but they managed to fit us in. The went it arrived, we both had the beef brisket as it was a Sunday lunch which was cooked perfectly it was absolutely gorgeous. If you get a chance, go eat there as you won't be disappointed.

Really lovely Inn on the A37. Comfortable and clean rooms with a bit of road noise - but not enough to keep me awake in the lovely, comfy bed. Some tea and coffee making facilities too and enough for a light breakfast in the room was a bonus. Friendly staff and great value for money. Would not hesitate to stay again if in the area.
