After graduating from the University of Bath, I decided to spend two weeks at Bath Backpackers in September 2024, having stayed in a few other hostels around the area. For anyone budget-traveling in and around Bath, this is the place to be.The staff here are incredibly warm and welcoming; they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and settled, which really makes a difference when you’re traveling. The beds are cozy, there’s plenty of luggage space, and the cleanliness of the shared spaces is a huge plus. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need, from cookware to seasonings, and with ample storage space. There are two common rooms filled with books, musical instruments, a TV, a workspace, and board games, so there’s always something to do. I noticed some older, less favorable reviews online, but if those were accurate once, it’s clear the team has gone above and beyond to make improvements. What’s especially memorable is how the staff are constantly adding thoughtful touches, like trying new recipes together and organizing group outings, which makes the experience feel more personal. I rarely write reviews, but I loved this place and it deserves all the appreciation. Hope to visit again someday!

I stayed for two nights, and this is by far the best hostel I’ve ever been to! 🙌🏻It’s super clean, safe, really close to the train station and the city center, and the building is beautiful. There are lots of spaces where people can hang out together. The kitchen is amazing—you can cook, and there’s a fridge to store your stuff. The rooms are spacious, and the beds are comfy. There are lockers in the room. What I loved the most was the friendly little community. They have lots of events, and I met some really lovely people☺️

This hostel is literally everything I wanted in a hostel. I see that old reviews describe it completely differently and something must have changed in the past 9-12months. What I experienced was super clean, clear communication, other guests are polite and there is the perfect amount of social opportunity but also the ability to have quiet & solo space. Amenities like free washer, towel, free coffee/tea/oat milk, made the stay comfortable and easy. Extremely convenient to anything you might want to see or do in Bath, including the train station.

I should have looked at the reviews first. ||I arrived just after 11, and despite them knowing i had travelled straight from work and had not eaten, i wasn't even allowed to get a fork from the kitchen to eat a salad i had bought because …

I had spoiled myself for choice as one of my first hostels. The water was nice and hot, amenities were good, clean and plenty. One short corner away from the city centre and a short walk from the train station, which was fantastic and very convenient.Staff was very helpful and kind, and the rooms were clean, well serviced and beds to a good comfort level. And I felt safe as can be the entire time. Will be coming back next time I plan to visit Bath! :)

Brilliant hostel. The facilities are clean and pleasant; the kitchen is modern and functional. For nice days, the location is ideal, and for rainy days there is also a great selection of books and a cosy basement “vault” you can read them in.However what truly sets Bath Backpackers apart is the people. The proprietors and volunteers made me wish I stayed much longer than two nights—they have created a lovely community where it is easy to make fast friends.Ignore any reviews older than late 2022; the new owners have completely turned this place around.Highly recommended.

I loved my stay here! The lower ratings are probably from before when the new owners took over the place a few years ago and completely renovated the whole place. The hostel has a very welcoming and cozy atmosphere and the staff is super friendly. Whoever is responsible for the music in the common room has a good taste! Fela Kuti is playing while I’m writing this review. It’s situated in walking distance to the train station and the city centre which is super convenient. When I was here, there was the possibility to join a WhatsApp chat where staff or other guests would offer to join activities like going to a pub together or do a yoga class. I really liked this easy and low-barrier option to be able to socialize or do stuff together. The beds in the dorms are perfectly fine, maybe not the most luxurious, but everything necessary was there. The mattresses and pillow felt really comfortable and the sheets smelled nice :)It didn’t bother me, but it’s maybe good to know, that there’s only one toilet on each floor and showers only in the -1 floor. I think the layout of the historic building doesn’t allow for any other structure. But nonetheless, all sanitary areas were neat and clean and in good condition.Overall, I can definitely recommend this hostel and if I’ll ever come back to bath, I’ll surely will be staying here again!

Very safe, kind workers, and comfortable beds! This was a great place for a weekend trip to Bath. Me and my friends stayed here for 2 nights, and it was lovely. Very central location, not far from the Roman Baths. The workers were so kind and accommodating. Definitely recommend!
