Barbie’s Malibu Dream House Returns to Airbnb

This summer, Barbie enthusiasts will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a Barbie-themed experience—with a twist. This time, it’s Ken who’s playing host.

To celebrate the release of the Greta Gerwig-directed live-action Barbie (hitting theaters on July 21, 2023), Airbnb is offering two exclusive one-night stays for up to two guests each in Ken’s bedroom at Barbie’s Malibu DreamHouse on July 21 and July 22. The overnight stays are completely free because Ken couldn’t quite figure out how to charge for a stay in the Malibu DreamHouse—cut him some slack; he’s more of a beach guy! Reservations for Ken’s room will open on Monday, July 17 at 10 a.m. PST at airbnb.com/kendreamhouse. Guests will need to arrange their own transportation to and from Malibu.

Beyond the Ken-themed accommodations, which feature a very hot pink house, an infinity pool adorned with floaties spelling K-E-N, and a cowboy-themed bedroom, guests can indulge in a range of Ken’s favorite activities. They’ll have the chance to try on Ken’s wardrobe (filled with beach-ready essentials, of course), learn some line dancing moves and hit the disco floor, serenade others on Ken’s guitar, and unwind by the pool. Plus, Ken fans will take home their own pair of yellow-and-pink Impala skates and a surfboard.

“We all have dreams, and Barbie is fortunate enough to have a house full of them,” said Ken, portrayed by Ryan Gosling, in a press release. “But now, it’s my time to shine, and I’m excited to welcome guests into these unique—dare I say, one-of-a-Ken?—digs.”

Fans of Barbie might recall this three-story Malibu home from 2019, when it was decorated (though much less uh, aggressively pink) to mark the Barbie brand’s 60th anniversary. Back then, the house was listed for $60 per night. This time, however, it’s all about Ken.
