As a preamble I would give you some advice: it is better to avoid paying in cash, this may seem obvious at first glance, but in case of problems, you could say goodbye to any possibility of reimbursement eventually.I had the opportunity to spend a wonderful vacation on Koh Phangan and discover some truly exceptional villas. However, this one is not one of them, it did not live up to my expectations:The lack of a water fountain forced me to remember to bring my own water bottles. The terrace, of such a dark color, became scorching under the sun, which made it difficult to pass at any time of the day.The absence of a parasol resulted in an obvious lack of shade. The lack of air conditioning in the living room makes this space stuffy and excessively hot, especially in direct sunlight.Access to the exterior was complicated without an off-road car (4x4) or scooter, given the steep slopes up and down. However, these inconveniences pale in comparison to the reason why I left the premises after only one night instead of the four initially planned: An unidentified chemical odor hung in the air in a worrying manner, which immediately motivated our hasty departure (throat irritation, nausea and headaches). If a simple bad smell can be tolerated, it has seriously affected our well-being, pushing us to make the decision to leave as quickly as possible. We found this smell in outhouses and in some food markets in Chinatown, although it was less prevalent elsewhere, suggesting that the dosage was really too strong in the house. This leads me to reiterate my initial advice: it is wise to avoid paying in cash, because in the event of a problem, it becomes unlikely to get your money back, even if you go through a booking platform. If you choose to make an advance payment via PayPal, make sure it goes directly to the owner, which was not the case for us...In hindsight, all these signals should have aroused our suspicion, but unfortunately, this was not the case. Whatever the owner may say (who probably has a whole lot to say) should be taken with a grain of salt.I encourage you to remember my experience so as not to fall into the same trap. Keep in mind that I preferred to sit on the €800 that I had paid to leave the accommodation as quickly as possible. And €800 for me is an extremely substantial sum; I spent several months saving for this accommodation and I was happy to go there. On a positive note, I ended up having an excellent vacation elsewhere on the island, in nicer, more economical and more aesthetically pleasing villas, with much better quality services. It is undeniable that this house must have been luxurious twenty years ago, but its current state reveals unfortunate aging. It is a residence that could have corresponded to the hippie spirit, which we seek if only we could have breathed peacefully there.
