How anyone could give this less than 5 stars would perplex me. Tai, the owner and his family really make this experience! They are at your beck and call making every ounce of your experience comfortable. …

This guesthouse is the best place to stay in Takayama ! It felt so good to be out of the city center, surrounded by rice fields in this beautiful Japanese home. Tai and his family are great host, they will make sure you feel at home. And they also drive you to the city center everything you need it, it was super easy. We felt so happy in this place, I truly recommend it ! The Japanese breakfast was a beautiful surprise, it felt like in a very nice restaurant. Our favorite hotel in Japan so far !

We had the most beautiful stay at SOY. The hospitality is incredible, every detail is considered. Tai is such a helpful host, providing great recommendations for places to eat and driving you where you need to go. The beds were super comfy and it was calm, quiet and peaceful. The Japanese breakfast was also delicious. The whole experience feels like a perfect example of a traditional Japanese guest house. We’ll absolutely be recommending it to our friends and family!

Tai and his beautiful family were so warm and welcoming. The house is an exquisite traditional japanese style home that is very clean and tidy. The views of surrounding mountains is breathtaking and you can even relax around the pond in the backyard full of Koi fish. Very serene and peaceful place. Not to mention the delicious japanese breakfast Tai’s mum Nobuku whips up every morning. 10/10 experience felt like a home away from home.

Me and my partner stayed here for two nights and loved every moment of it. Taiand his family were amazing, making every part of our stay special. Not only did we have an authentic Japanese breakfast cooked for us each morning by Nobuko (Tai’s mother), but we also got dropped off and picked up each day, had the most amazing recommendations and learnt so much from Tai about Japanese culture. The beds were so comfortable and the house was beautiful and relaxing. I can’t recommend SOY enough.

From the very beginning of out stay at Soy Guesthouse I knew it would be the highlight of our trip to Japan. Tai-San met us at the train station and took us back to the guesthouse where Nobuko-San greeted us with Japanese tea. …

Everything was perfect. Tai and his mother Nabuko are the sweetest people ever. Tai picked us up from the station in a heavy rainy day and brought us to a nice restaurant, then came back to bring us to his wonderful traditional house. The room was majestic and the Japanese breakfast cooked by Nabuko was amazing.Thank you for having us, we hope your little cat Tama will come back home soon!
