This hotel is located uphill for a 10 to 15-minute walk on the quiet side of Gero. Road surface is quite rough for suitcases, and no pavement for pedestrians.Pros:* Among the best priced inclusive of breakfast and dinner* Friendly and helpful staff* Large room* Dinner buffet is nice with many different dishes* Onsen with a view* Can also use the onsen of their other hotel on the opposite side of the town* Free karaoke during daytime and manga cornerCons:* Noise (from upstairs and corridor, and for one morning there was noise of repair work at 6am, and vacuuming started before 10am)* Room not thoroughly cleaned (hair on the floor, and stains on tatami)* Low pillow and no spare pillow* A bit of a long walk from major attractions in Gero* Dishes for dinner and for breakfast were the same for the 2 consecutive days I was there* Onsen water is recycled, filtered and reheated, but is expected for this price rangeThis hotel is a great choice for budget travelers who would like a taste of onsen hotel. I saw Japanese from all walks of life (older couples, young family, young adults / students etc) staying so you get to experience what the locals enjoy on their day offs.

This cozy onsen hotel is placed on a hilltop overlooking Gero town, conveniently connected by a free shuttle. Worthwhile to note that the town shut’s down after 430pm, so one is left to enjoy the hotel itself. …

1. I am a frequent traveller to japan. I have been to more than 100 onsen hotels in japan and I am sure that this hotel is the worst onsen in the world!  …

The place is quite nice and relatively cheap, but a bit old. Though I would surely recommend to friends.
