the best hotel in japan so far! the room is big comparable to other rooms in Japanese hotels and the futons are very comfortable. most of the staff are tourists and foreigners who work there, so they speak English very well, also significantly better than most Japanese hotels. the staff are very nice and welcoming. the owner is an amazing person, very nice and was willing to help and explain anything that we asked. the onsen is very clean, well organized and looks amazing(try to catch the left one). breakfast and dinner were delicious. the shuttle to gora station helped a lot, used it twice. in retrospective we could have stayed there significantly more time, not just to see more of hakone, but for this hotel. the shared space is giving a great vibe that makes you want to stay more

This accommodation makes me feel a little sad about my travel memoriesFirst, the agoda ordering experience:The original currency value of Taiwan dollars was converted into RMB for deduction by the system because of the deferred payment option. After this deduction, my google and agoda pages wereThe currency value returned from Japanese Yen to New Taiwan Dollar, and I saw that the room price per night was NT$4,500.So it's not necessarily a problem with the agoda website. We booked a room in August for weekdays from Tuesday to Thursday, a total of two nights.Because the room type was not specified when ordering, when the payment was actually made, I found that the price was much higher than expected. The total payment was NT$9,343, which is equivalent to about 42,000 Japanese yen.So I wrote to ask the hotel about the room type I ordered, and it turned out to be the basement. This is a youth hostel, not a hotel. Bathrooms are shared. Each meal for breakfast and dinner requires an additional ¥1,200.The Western breakfast is okay, although it is still quite expensive, but the Japanese breakfast is really not recommended.Personal hot spring rooms can be reserved, and a cleaning fee of ¥150 per person per night is charged.Accommodation experience:When we originally ordered, we saw very high ratings from agoda and google reviews, but in fact our experience was really disappointing.Since this place is not easily accessible by transportation, most of the guests are foreign tourists. If you are a backpacker and want to make friends, you can consider it.advantage:1. The counter and service staff speak English very well and are very friendly.2. The reserved personal hot spring house is very clean~shortcoming:1. The ventilation is very poor, and there is a musty and sour smell from the corridors and rooms.2. The sports rest area is very crude and the massage chair is not very comfortable.3. There is a lot of dust and you must wear a mask to fall asleep, otherwise you will wake up in the middle of the night with an itchy trachea and a cough.4. The double bed is very small and has no elasticity. People who sleep against the wall will fall into the gap between the bed and the wall.5. The hotel is very far from the station. Although there is a shuttle bus in the morning (and driven by the boss himself), the boss introduced how to take the bus and transfer to the bus. He was very enthusiastic, but it would be very hard to get back to the hotel. (Going back from the nearest bus stop requires a continuous super steep uphill walk for at least 10 minutes)6. The musty smell was really strong. There was a lot of dust on the bed near the wall. I had to wear a mask to sleep. We stayed for two nights and carried all our luggage, clothes and belongings. The smell still lingered until we returned to Taiwan on Saturday. ,I washed and dried my clothes three times at home before the smell disappeared.Summary: The room rate in this hotel is the most expensive in our trip to Tokyo, even more than twice as expensive as the cheapest room. The room and overall accommodation conditions of this hotel were the worst during our trip to Tokyo. Even after we returned home, we had to spend time washing, drying our clothes and suitcases, and packing them for us for two nights. consequences (and asthma attacks).Although we had a glimpse of the room on the first floor that was indeed a comfortable-looking Japanese-style room with tatami mats and was unoccupied, in fact the room we were allocated was a shabby room in the basement. And the price on Agoda is much more expensive than the official website. For me, this accommodation was a terrible travel experience...

Before you start reading the reviews, please note: this is a youth hostel, this is a youth hostel, this is a youth hostel! It’s very important, so I have to say it three times! If you are looking forward to a comfortable Hakone hot spring hotel (or at least a hotel), then please cancel your reservation as soon as possible, because you are likely to book a lousy private room in the basement, with a shared bathroom and a terrible smell! The point is it’s super expensive! The price of accommodation is much higher than that of ordinary hotels! Don't let this "hotel" ruin your hot springs trip!Let’s talk about the advantages first:1. The counter staff speaks very good English, can communicate smoothly, and is very friendly.2. The reserved personal soup house is very clean. In addition to the above two points, there are other shortcomings:0. We booked on Agoda. Because we accidentally selected the "delayed payment" plan, it may be a system problem. The currency value was changed from Taiwan dollars to RMB (and the font was so small that we didn't notice it at all). When the payment was deducted, We were charged an additional 5% processing fee, so the final amount we paid was NT$9XXX/two nights, which is non-refundable.1. Because the room rate is too expensive, we wrote to the hotel to ask what kind of room it would arrange and whether it would include meals (because it was not included in the plan). The hotel told us that the room would be in the "basement" and would require a shared bathroom. Breakfast and dinner would not be included, and meals would have to be paid separately. If you want to use the personal hot spring room, you need to queue up with other guests to use it in turn. A cleaning fee of RMB 150 per person per night will be charged.2. The ventilation of the hotel is very poor. As long as you are close to the building, you can smell the smell of rancid oil. Especially in the basement where we lived, the entire corridor smelled of Indian curry for some reason. When we opened the room, we were greeted by the musty smell and the sour smell of old sweat. This unpleasant smell followed us home and all the clothes had to be washed three times to completely remove the musty smell.3. The walls were covered with dirty wallpaper and the lights were dim. We had to wear masks to sleep, otherwise we would wake up in the middle of the night with itching in the trachea and coughing due to the inhalation of mold and dust. The double bed is very small, maybe only the extra-large size for a single person. The mattress has no elasticity at all and is very hard. People who sleep against the wall will fall into the gap between the bed and the wall.4. The hotel is very good at taking photos, but the pictures and text don’t match at all. The social hall and dry landscape garden looked beautiful in the photo, but when we arrived at the site, it was just an ordinary shared space with tatami mats, and a dirty, small gravel courtyard. It was impossible to imagine that it was the same place as the photo. The boss seems to like Africa very much. The entire hotel is filled with African paintings, ornaments and photos of his own trips to Africa. It is completely different from the overall Japanese garden style and has a very strong sense of violation.5. The hotel is very far from the station. Although there is a shuttle bus in the morning (and the boss drives it himself), it will be very difficult to get back to the hotel. So there is no need to leave your luggage in the hotel, go to other places to play and then come back to pick it up, because the time cost is too high, or you simply cannot move on your own power (it takes time to go back from the nearest bus stop) Walk continuously uphill for at least 10 minutes)6. The breakfast in the hotel is very unpalatable and costs ¥1,200 yuan per guest. The Western breakfast looks like a Costco platter, and the Japanese breakfast looks okay but tastes like microwaved food. After the breakfast experience, we didn't dare to order dinner, and the menu prices were not too cheap. It is recommended that if you really want to stay in this hotel, you must buy all the food before going up the mountain. You will find that the food in 7-11 is quite delicious.Summary: The room rate in this hotel is the most expensive in our trip to Tokyo, even more than twice as expensive as the cheapest room. The room and overall accommodation conditions of this hotel were the worst during our trip to Tokyo. Even after we returned home, we had to spend time washing, drying our clothes and suitcases, and packing them for us for two nights. It caused severe damage (I even had an asthma attack due to the mold). So, personally, even if all the hotels in Hakone are booked, I will not consider staying in this hotel again.Although we had a glimpse of the room on the first floor that was indeed a comfortable-looking Japanese-style room with tatami mats, the actual room we were allocated was a shabby room in the basement. And the price on Agoda is much more expensive than the official website. So if you have already booked but can still cancel, please confirm the room type first. If it’s in the basement, for the sake of your health, please cancel decisively and don’t make fun of your own health! For the same price, you can definitely find something better in Hakone. Please look carefully again!

I stayed at this traditional ryokan and the experience was exceptional. The location is perfect, offering a relaxing atmosphere upon arrival thanks to its magnificent Japanese garden. The staff are incredibly helpful and very friendly, which adds a warm touch to the stay. The rooms are remarkably comfortable, and the establishment offers private onsens where tattooed people are welcome. Access to the onsen is included in the hotel price, at no extra cost, which is a real plus. Breakfast is offered either in authentic Japanese style or in a slightly more European version, depending on everyone's preferences. In the morning, a shuttle is available to take us closer to points of interest, and the owner of the place himself accompanied us. He was very helpful in helping us purchase our tickets for the day. Additionally, there is a washing machine and dryer available for a nominal fee, with complimentary laundry detergent, which is very convenient for longer stays.Dinner is also a highlight, carefully prepared and served on site, providing a memorable dining experience. In addition, there are activities nearby that allow you to have a view of Mount Fuji, if the weather is favorable.I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for an authentic and relaxing Japanese experience.
