I was having an amazing time here until the poor service I received during check out. Let me say the rooms are beautiful and immaculately clean. I was super happy that I got to enjoy such a huge space to myself. But on my last day - I wanted to check out around 9.30 am and store my luggage so I could take a morning train to Enryaku-ji temple. There’s never anyone at the front desk, and good luck finding anyone at the cafe if it’s closed and locked. The days before, there was a very sweet woman at the cafe front desk who was very helpful, but she wasn’t there on this day.I tried calling the number they provided but no one spoke English. I was pretty frustrated because I couldn’t check out and would have to walk my bags to another hotel to have them hold the bags instead. As soon as I was walking out with my bags THEN a woman emerged from the cafe, and she seemed more concerned that I was trying to leave without checking out and settling my bill. That absolutely wasn’t my intent, I honestly couldn’t find anyone to help me with my checkout. She offered no apology, but did offer to hold my bags for me in the end. This experienced ended up making the end of my stay at Malda a bit bitter.

My second stay in June 2024. It was as wonderful as ever. I love this place. This is not a 24 hour staffed hotel, it is best to let the staff know of you plan. Thank you again for fantastic stay.Stayed in the red room for 2 nights. It was a fabulous stay. The room is very spacious with heated floors. Every fiber, dishes are from Jurgen Lehl/Babaghuri shops. Make you realize what is missing in your home. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The location is excellent many nice shops in the vicinity, short walk to the subway station. The breakfast is breathtakingly nice. So many small dishes of goodies. Got two totally different meals during the stay. I can’t praise enough for this place. And this will be my go to hotel when I’m in Kyoto.

Stayed for three days during a trip through Japan and was blown away. The studios are spacious, elegant and well located. The breakfast service is bespoke and unbelievably good. We stayed in 5* hotels on our trip and would pick Malda over many of them. The staff are all welcoming and lovely and the cafe is also great.

Stayed in a gorgeous studio apartment in this lovely boutique hotel. Everything works in a practical sense but also the details are delightful. Japanese breakfast served in the room was quite an experience. Our stay was completely lovely in every respect! Thank you, lovely ladies.

I used the cafe. When I wanted to rest my tired feet, I saw this restaurant right in front of me, so I went in with my friend without any hesitation.Inside the cafe, there is music that sounds like a unique foreign folk song, and the menu includes healthy-looking drinks and sweets that you won't find at other cafes. I was wondering about the name of the drink as I had never seen it before, but the clerk kindly taught me the name. Also, since I live a gluten-free lifestyle, I was very happy that they had rice flour muffins, but to be honest, they were quality muffins that I could make at home. The prices were high for a student, so my friend and I left the store with a bitter smile.

It was used by 3 people. One of the beds had a sofa made into a bed. There was only one room on each floor from the 2nd to 4th floor, so it was a very spacious and open space that made us feel as relaxed as we were at home. The first floor is a cafe.Tea and coffee sold at the cafe on the first floor were provided as amenities in the room, so we could relax while eating tea and sweets, and the conversation blossomed.I was very happy that Babagouri shampoo, conditioner, and soap were available, but the shampoo and conditioner were too natural and made my hair crunchy, which was a bit disappointing.*Toothbrush not includedThe next day, breakfast will be brought to your room at the time you specify. It was great to be able to enjoy so many different side dishes in the morning, each one carefully made and with a gentle taste!I think this is a hotel that I highly recommend for people who are traveling with friends they haven't seen in a while and want to enjoy conversation.

I used both the cafe and the hotel and both were great. Above all, I could feel that all the staff were managing the brand with respect and pride. All photos, including food, are of the hotel.Cafe: I had the best muffins I've ever had, so much so that I bought a recipe book from the shop right across the street. I thought it didn't contain any sugar and had a subtle sweetness from the whole wheat flour, but it turns out that it actually doesn't contain any sugar and uses maple syrup to give it its sweet taste. It had the most luxurious taste. If you're tired and want something sweet, or if you like really sweet things, you might not be satisfied.Hotel: My wife and I stayed at Aka in the middle of a sweltering summer. There are no full-time staff, and the hotel is somewhere between a regular hotel and an Airbnb. Many places are particular about amenities such as shampoo, but they also have cups, accessory cases, and even pajamas made by themselves, and every detail is thought out, including the lighting. I was surprised at how spacious and well-designed the rooms are, how easy it is to use, and how comfortable you feel as if you were living here. There were written explanations where I wanted them, and they were thorough. It's no wonder that some people choose to stay longer. The red on the walls was also a nice red.The breakfast, as others have said, exceeded my expectations. I love meat and thought that vegetarian meals would be insufficient, but that was not the case at all.Everything was delicious and the variety and quantity was amazing. Not only the plates but also the pots and ladles are made with great care.I felt like my senses were sharpened and I was able to concentrate on my present moment. It may sound like an old-fashioned word, but I feel like I have experienced this kind of thing by living a ``careful life''. This price is cheap for this experience.

Once you enter the room! I want it to be my home🌟It's very comfortable. It's easily accessible and has IH, a sink, plates, knives, etc., so I was able to take a break during my trip by returning to my room and relaxing with some Japanese sweets and tea or coffee. All water is purified and safe. There is also floor heating, so I was able to stay warm even on the snowy day the other day ♨️☃️ For some reason, I felt homesick after checking out 💫 That's how nice ❤️‍🔥

You can enjoy the world of Jurgen Lehr throughout your room. The food was so delicious that even though it was an everyday meal, it felt like we were living in a different world. It was a beautiful place.
