We visited Kanazawa purely to stay at Hotel 101. We were looking for traditional accommodation with some familiar creature comforts - and wow! This old Japanese house is very spacious, has been expertly restored and retains its exquisite features. The bed was the most comfortable we have slept in, the Japanese garden was delightful, and the bathroom and shower were perfect. Ryoko was a wonderful host and concierge, and helped us plan our trip so nicely. Breakfast was a real treat, and dinner at Origo (the restaurant downstairs) was a highlight. We felt very comfortable, relaxed and very well looked after - wish we had more time here! Two nights was not enough and we would love to come back.

Hotel 101 is a one-room hotel located in a fabulous two-story Japanese-style mansion. In reality, staying here essentially means having at your exclusive disposal not a room but an entire apartment with a large living room, antechamber and enormous bedroom overlooking a private Japanese garden. The owner, Ryoko, has lived in Italy for several years and has managed, in the furnishings and atmosphere, to perfectly combine the elegance and charm of the Japanese tradition with modern comforts and luxury.In short, we liked our accommodation so much that we often went home early to relax and enjoy such a beautiful and charming environment.In conclusion, give yourself a gift and book the room at hotel 101. The only problem you might encounter is that when you leave you wish you could have stayed there one more night!Note for Italians: Ryoko speaks Italian very well and above all they make coffee and cappuccinos to perfection! In addition to the hotel, it also runs a small café next door, so if you can't find a place to sleep but want to drink an excellent coffee and have an Italian breakfast in Kanazawa, this is always the right place!

We have traveled a lot over the years and this is one the the most special places I have ever stayed. You are the only guest in a beautiful 100 year old home. You have your own garden to view from your bedroom and bathroom windows. The service and amenities are impeccable. Breakfast is included at their downstairs caffe and was delicious.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay if you are in Kanazawa! Beautiful place with lots of privacy and quiet/safe area near a temple. Ryoko was the best host we’ve experienced who went above and beyond to make our stay effortlessly especially since we were travelling with an infant.

Wonderful Japanese-style hotel with lots of charm and excellent service. Impeccable decoration, spacious, equipped with all kinds of details, total privacy and well located. As an example, the bathroom has a bathtub with views of a really beautiful private garden. Great breakfast with top quality products. The attention of the charming Ryoko, always friendly and willing to help, is an added value that makes the stay at this hotel unbeatable. A unique experience that is difficult to forget.

Absolutely fantastic, went there in april and the service was incredible. The room was outstanding with anything you can think of in a traditional yet modern japanese home. The food at night was perfect with a japanese/italian fusion. The breakfast was delicious with croissants and little pastries as well as eggs and others. Definitely recommend if you are going here with your partner and staying for 1-2 nights here.

what an amazing stay! beautiful homey place, comfortable bed, amazing amenities. Loved our breakfast, yummy italian viennoiserie. We had to leave early on our check-out day, they even prepared tasty breakfast sandwiches for us with coffee! Wish we had stayed longer, definitely a must stay for Kanazawa. Hope to come back soon!
