Style.Nostalgic conversionSetting.Time travel to a less explored Edo period temple and merchant townExplore.Katsuragi, nearby temples & shrines, public baths. By coincidence, I was here the night of the autumn festival where they held the hypnotic and dream like lantern offerings at Kamotsuba ShrineRooms.I was in RITA Goshomachi, a 1918 fountain pen shop with 4 rooms, in a superior twin with garden courtyard view, 732 sq ft of space.RITA is from the word heritage, as the hotel’s goal is to help revitalize the old town’s derelict spacesThe other lodging option is Yado Charinko, which used to be a bike shop, now hotel rooms with shared bathrooms.@ the hotel.Four “decentralized” Showa era buildings scattered through town for accommodations, meals, & sento public bath (Gose Takarayu was first opened 1916, closed 2008, and reopened again 2022)Food & drinks.Breakfast and lunch is served at Kemuri, but the A+ restaurant 2 min away also has rave reviewsPrices.$432 half boardRating.5/5

A small luxury hotel where you can experience good old Japanese architecture. The bedding, sofa, and bathroom facilities are comfortable and of high quality. The old wooden fittings and Showa window glass tastefully match the interior. When renovating the building, it seems that as much as possible has been left as it was in the past, and due to the wooden structure, you can hear the sounds of doors closing and walking. No wonder there is no TV in the room. It is not barrier-free, and there are no amusements inside the hotel, so if you have elderly people or small children staying, you may want to consult with the hotel in advance. Each of the four rooms has a different layout, so once you stay there, you'll want to stay in a different room.``Pueraria'' The bedroom, which was originally a storehouse, is a relaxing space surrounded by clay walls.``Muscantas'' At night, when the lights are turned off, the open living room is illuminated by the streetlights, creating a nice atmosphere. As of 2024, Gosho-machi still retains the townscape from the old days, but the landscape is not regulated like a townscape preservation district, so it is crowded with Showa-era retro arcades and new houses, making it a great place to take a stroll. I never get tired of it. It's quiet at night and a bit lonely, but the sight of the street lights lighting up the area gives me a nostalgic feeling (the goal is to have the country designate it as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by 2027).

With the aim of revitalizing and maintaining the town of Imperial Palace, this inn, a nearby bath, and meals are provided at a restaurant by renovating an old private house. With this new concept, you can enjoy the Imperial Palace as a visitor. Enjoy a quiet stay.It was my first visit to the Imperial Palace. When I drove around the JR station by car, I had the impression that the town was just being revitalized, but after checking in, I went to the public bath and went to a restaurant, and I saw that the old townscape was neat and tidy, along with the residents' private houses. Because of this, I would like to emphasize that the town is being thoroughly revitalized.Concept is important. The staff members are very attentive and attentive, and it's very comfortable to be treated without being pushy and keeping a reasonable distance. As we talked about various things, we found out that this inn and another inn in Naratawara Honmachi, which is a renovated old folk house, are sister establishments. As soon as I'm satisfied with it. It is a new stay type inn with facilities that show off the good aspects of Nara.

In November, my family of three stayed in a suite at RITA Gosho. This accommodation is an old folk house that was once known as Fountain Pen Honpo, and has now been transformed into a high-quality accommodation facility. You can see the courtyard from the walkway and enjoy the natural beauty of each season. The calm atmosphere and quiet space make it the perfect place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Also, the food at Western Restaurant Kemuri was amazing. All the dishes made with ingredients from the local imperial palace were full of flavor, and I enjoyed pairing them with local sake. It offers delicious flavors unique to the region. There are elements scattered throughout that give you a sense of its history as a fountain pen manufacturing house, making your stay even more special. I would definitely like to visit again next time.

I stayed here during my trip to Nara.Located in a quaint townscape, you can listen to the staff talk about the history of the Imperial Palace, the characteristics of the town, and the Mannen pen. As someone like me who loves architecture and the history of cities, it was a very fun and educational story. The room was also unique to an old folk house, and it was a very romantic and wonderful space. There, I was able to try writing with the Mannen pen, which was an exciting experience for someone like me who doesn't usually use it.The staff are very kind and helpful, so you can have a dream-like time. It was a wonderful accommodation that I would like to use again when I visit Nara.

This hotel was a pen selling shop so you can find a lot of old fashioned pens displayed here. Even the outlook of the hotel is old, the rooms inside are mostly renovated and keeping some old trace throughout the hotel. The service is excellent. Although the place for having dinner is not convenient, the meal is very delicious. Highly recommended.
