We discovered this restaurant by chance. The service person was really nice and accommodating. We felt very comfortable. The food was really deliciousWe can give our recommendation.The schnitzels were very tender, the sauce was really tasty, the fried potatoes were great and we also liked the salad. -Food only came after 1.5 hours-Side salads were forgotten even though we asked three times.-a dish was cold-You should really be ashamed of the amount of venison goulash and for such a high price.-Schnitzel really carelessly prepared.-only + point, the starters were refunded.We won't be coming back.

I've come to love this place.I picked it literally at random when I was showing my partner how many well-rated budget hotel options there were in Germany.and so I came to check it out. (I am on a low organization solo cycling holiday and this area - on paper - looked good. and has been excellent, if high up)I've stayed two nights and will add a third.the food is mostly traditional but very well done (15e to 24 e for mains). I'm told they have a new chef. I hope they keep him. the lamb kofta was excellent.and it seems the restaurant serves 7 days a week, which is nuts.I was also told that the central room in the restaurant is one of few in Germany that is 500 years old. it's lovely.the rooms are clean and modern. my bed (a single for a cheap price - just 40e) is very comfortable. the linens are soft and not scratchy.the decor is freshly painted and clean.now if you need a private bathroom (there is one room with one but the other 6 share) this is not the place for you.but really? don't most of us walk down the hall at home to the bathroom? get over it.Service has been great. though I am here in October. I can imagine that in July August the big beer garden can get crazy. and I can imagine it is hard to hire help here in the middle of nowhereso, be gracious, be patientthis place is a gem to revere and preserve.

Young and very committed team. I chose a delicious apple cider and a first-class cauliflower steak and was thrilled. The ambience is great! The house dates back to the Middle Ages and is very well preserved and maintained.

We were there on Sunday September 29th.The food was lukewarm, the salad was watery with a few green leaves, wafer-thin radish slices and no other side dishes (unimaginative), and the salad came when we had almost finished eating :(The best thing was the fried potatoes!

I was occasionally a guest in the village tavern. The last visit was a culinary crash!I haven't eaten worse in years. If you don't have a chef who can do something, you might want to keep the menu simple and clear. In our case the food was an absolute disaster. Both in preparation and in quality.The only bright spot was the very friendly service, who tried everything to save the situation.For us that was it for now, bye bye Dorfschänke

We felt like we were in good hands right from the start and were thrilled by the quantity and quality of the food. We asked ourselves how such a secluded restaurant can survive in current times, but the way service staff interact with guests and passers-by showed us that the establishment is optimally integrated into the community and village life and must be correspondingly popular. This is how village life and cohesion works. Bravo!

A little surprise for me. For an inn in the hinterland, super tasty and varied food. There are classics, but also interesting new dishes. The rooms and sanitary facilities are absolutely clean and well maintained. The price-performance ratio is right for me. The staff was very friendly and we had a good time.

Stopping for a break in the beer garden of the Dorfschänke inn at Laukenmühler Weg 9 in the Espenschied district of the city of Lorch was the perfect end to an all-around successful hike today. The beer garden, surrounded by large plant pots with oleanders, invites you to linger and dine under large, shady parasols. The two employees are extremely attentive, very friendly and don't ask intrusively from time to time whether everything is satisfactory. We had a particularly nice conversation with the employee Katharina, who always made sure that our orders were taken straight away and that the food and drinks were served within a relatively short time. The portions were quite generous, e.g. two medium to large pepper cream schnitzels.The vegan dish cauliflower schnitzel with a side salad and verde dressing is not only visually stunning, but also incredibly delicious!The technical equipment is up to date and the bill can be paid directly at the table without cash.The Espensschieder Dorfschänke is my top tip!

*** Update August 2024 ***The operator of the village tavern has since changed. We found out about this quite by chance and had our booking confirmed again (this time as a family of four) as part of our summer MTB tour. Since the opening times have now changed, we would unfortunately no longer have been able to visit the restaurant that we had originally booked for an overnight stay. Overall, the whole team was extremely friendly and always helpful, both during bookings, telephone calls and on site. The meals prepared especially for us were delicious and plentiful, the breakfast buffet was very plentiful and also tasty. We would like to once again say many thanks to the entire Dorfschänken team and thank you for the hospitality in Espenschied.*** October 2023 ***We stayed overnight in the Dorfschänke on our Wispertaunussteig hike and were very satisfied.The young boss of the house, Johanna, is wonderfully personable and committed to her work and gives the traditional house the necessary freshness and lightness. We wish her and her team all the best!

On July 2nd, my 76-year-old mother made a reservation for 84 euros for 2 nights, but canceled it 10 minutes later. According to the cancellation policy, the entire amount was supposed to be refunded, but this has not happened to date. In the “Dorfschänke” no one answers the phone and our emails are not answered either. Impudence!
