We had registered well in advance with a group of cyclists, arrived soaking wet in the drizzle and found a locked door with a message that was difficult to digest (see picture). And while we were still thinking about how we should deal with it (one member of our group is actually an active "joker", the rest are sympathetic or at least open to discussion), the innkeeper came, opened the door, pushed a wedge under the door and wanted to know whether we had gotten wet (he's obviously nearsighted too) and why we couldn't get in. Our reference to his "local ban" was acknowledged with the comment that this only meant "certain people from the town" who had "never done any work before, but were super smart and ruined everything here." That was too much for us, finding an alternative wasn't easy, but it was worth it. No matter how good the knuckle would have been, none of us would have felt comfortable there.A small consolation was the fact that anyone who utters a critical word is banned from eating in Bavaria. Take a look at the BookingCom reviews, the critical ones get something??? That’s right, stay-at-home orders! It's just a tavern, not an inn...

The location of the hotel is well located in the city center near the beautiful old town hall. There was parking in front of the hotel. The rooms were in a side entrance through a blocked hallway. Here, as well as in the stairwell, it wasn't really clean and there was concern about what the rooms would look like now.The rooms in the apartment had a shared bathroom/toilet with another room. We didn't realize this when we booked. But since no one was booked into the other room, that was okay. But you could have said it clearly. The bathroom was mostly clean, as was the room to sleep in. It was quite modern in relation to the hallway. The rooms are quite noisy. WiFi available, even if I have no idea where the password was. Since I could surf via hotspot, that didn't matter to me.Breakfast better than we expected from the room. Nothing extraordinary but absolutely sufficient. The view from the rooms... After 30 cm there was a wall. For what was offered, the room was a bit too expensive for us. If other hotels had been available, we would have preferred to go there. Many negative reviews have been deleted here. I don't want to speculate for what reasons, but the innkeeper's comments had a very "right-wing" tone and were saturated with insults. Definitely a reason why it was deleted after “report”.Be that as it may, the boss seems to be a choleric who mainly shoots against "migrants" and "greens". It's nice that the ratings are still available on Tripadvisor :-)Unfortunately, we saw these ratings too late. But we were greeted by election posters.I don't know if that should be the case in a hotel, it's up to everyone. But it would definitely be a reason for me to change hotels. It's nice if you make use of your opinion, but your own rights stop where those of others are affected. And insults don't have to be there.I'm curious to see what kind of comment I get from the owner, but I also have an opinion! And before it comes up... Fortunately, between blue and green, there are many other bright colors :-) Black and white thinking only makes you unhappy :-)But there are 2 stars because the room was fine.I won't include the political aspects in the assessment as much, as I said, a good democracy also tolerates other opinions without having to offend!

Great inn with Bavarian flair right next to the town hall in the beautiful old town of Frankenberg. The Augustiner comes fresh from the barrel and is always delicious. The atmosphere is typically Bavarian and cozy. You feel very comfortable and the staff and the boss are always friendly and attentive. My wife and I can also only recommend the kitchen. Keep it up 👍👍👍

Probably the best Bavarian inn north of the Isar!
