My booking was over the phone and confirmation came via email. Waldhotel Soodener Hof. The hotel has a quiet location. The breakfast was good and sufficient. Rolls, sausage, jam, cheese, warm eggs, coffee. Unfortunately that was all. Unfortunately, my room was musty and freezing cold because there was no heating. I froze like hell. The hallway areas had no light. The whole wellness area was ice cold. The sauna could only have been used with prior reservation, but it would have been of no use because, as I said, the entire wellness area was a block of ice. I then called the mobile number on file at the reception, it was the owner and reported the problems and said he wanted to take care of it. Hours later, an employee came to inform me about a room change to another building. He helped pack my suitcase, I was shivering from the cold. Using cell phone light, we crept across the hallway and into the other building. I spent a night there now. The heating worked, but the room walls were still very cold. The next morning I met another employee. She prepared breakfast and I spoke to her now. In this conversation she reported that it was a tried and tested problem, there were many rooms without heating or hallway lights, in others the toilets didn't flush, and so on. My first room was well known for these deficiencies. The employee advised me to call the boss, but he no longer answered the phone. She also told me that so many guests were complaining. She would always report deficiencies to her boss, but they would be ignored. Since we had visited the wellness area again together, she tried to turn on the heaters, but it didn't work, everything was just ice cold. I now asked to leave. The boss then informed her that I could leave and that, in his opinion, I should pay €50 as a goodwill gesture. I didn't comply, but had a roof over my head for one night, drank two rolls and a cup of coffee and paid for it with €30. The boss wrote to me saying that I wasn't paying the prices and that he would send the whole thing to the debt collection office. I asked him if he was aware that he had literally ruined my entire vacation. There wasn't even an apology. My arrival and departure took two hours. Unfortunately, the hours I had booked and paid for in the salt cave the day before (€86) were gone and the money was never returned. That was actually the main reason for staying there.In the end it just made me cry, I was booked into a hotel where it was already known what shortcomings it had. I really don't recommend it.

Very nice staff, who were particularly accommodating at breakfast. Rooms: There are renovated rooms and rooms that are a bit outdated. On the whole, however, completely fine and clean. Breakfast: normal selection of sausage/cheese with room for improvement, but completely sufficient. There is a sufficient selection of jams/honey and a small selection of muesli as well as fruit and various yoghurts can also be found. There were rolls (various baked goods) and fresh bread as well as freshly made waffles. The freshly prepared egg dishes in mini pans were very tasty. A selection of different coffee specialties including hot chocolate and various juices round off the positive overall impression. Swimming pool: the swimming pool is a bit old and there is no changing room (apart from the toilet room). However, the pleasant water temperature and the easy access are positive. Perfect for a short relaxation and a few short runs. Overall, the hotel is definitely pleasing and can be recommended.

We were there for a week, the hotel is no longer the youngest, but who is? But we really liked it and would come back again and again. The staff is very friendlyand tried very hard. a great vacation

The picture shows another accommodation.Unfortunately the restaurant was/is closed.I didn't use the wellness area.You have to like the route to the hotel parking lot or be able to drive.It's pretty steep up the mountain.The staff was friendly and helpful.

Beautifully located hotel, unfortunately no restaurant, just a bed and breakfast with outdated furnishings in the rooms. Beds were new and good too.The access to the hotel is very steep and not in the best condition. However, this was not a problem given the current weather.Not for people with physical disabilities as there are only stairs and very narrow bathroom doors.We have booked a wellness package. The use of the sauna was only available by prior arrangement and, like the pool area, seemed deserted. A sauna towel or bathrobe is charged additionally.Very unfriendly owner, who was even insulting, obviously overwhelmed. The few staff we saw were friendly.Since we felt like supplicants and not guests, I can only advise against staying.Just an addendum after the owner's answer.The light switch mentioned was about lighting the lounge that was offered, which we wanted to use with our friends around 9:20 p.m.After a short search and then a telephone inquiry, the answer was that we couldn't find this light switch at all. The owner then came and switched on the lights for this area centrally from an area not accessible to guests.We also arrived in a car.

The reception was very good, the friendly staff explained everything to us very comprehensively and in detail. But you also get a practical guide. If you have any questions, there is always a telephone at reception where someone can always be reached.There is no restaurant in the hotel, but you are welcome to order something from the on-site restaurant and then eat it in the dining room. A refrigerator with a large selection is available that you can use at any time. Billing takes place at the end of the holiday.The hotel room was clean. Of course you could find a cobweb here and there, but the hotel is also in the forest. The employees clean thoroughly and can't do anything about it. The furnishings are dark, but according to the hotel manager, the rooms are gradually being renovated and made more friendly. The mattresses were great and you could sleep really well in them.The staff was friendly and nice. Every day you were offered a varied breakfast (e.g. different sausages, vegetables and muesli). You could make your own coffee, and you also had the opportunity to make coffee specialties. According to the employee, the products at the buffet were branded or regionally sourced. Upon request, you could also get scrambled and fried eggs prepared. Because of the great color of the yolk, you could immediately see that they were good eggs and not ready-made yolks from the bag. And I think that's really great!The wellness area was very inviting and beautifully designed. We booked a massage with the hydrojet and received detailed instructions. The hotel's swimming pool was clean and not over-chlorinated. Very good for sensitive skin. You also had the opportunity to get a sauna with a great relaxation area. All you had to do was say so.The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from the Weingasse with great dining and occasional music performances.The employee also gave us great tips for excursions.Hotel meets the requirements of a 3-star hotel. We felt very comfortable. Gladly again !

Unfortunately, we didn't know that "cheap" (that's in the eye of the beholder when it comes to prices) also means dirty and with e.g. broken shower door means.Also, sorry for bringing our dust and spreading it around decoratively.Interesting that you mention our “dirty demeanor.” Where you got that from remains your secret, because I haven't seen you.Luckily we had another great 3 star hotel the next day that was clean. In addition, the coffee and breakfast were good.Ultimately, your insulting answer reflects 1:1 the quality of the hotel.But that is reflected in many of the reviews here.greetingH.K.Update: Dear Mr. “Hotel Owner”I wish you continued success in your business with your unobjective and insulting manner towards guests.I believe that "guest pay and be quiet" will permanently be the end.But not my problem. Probably the worst "hotel" I've experienced so far. Arrival on Saturday shortly after 6 p.m. Completely deserted hotel. Nobody on site, keys were lying open at the reception with a data sheet from the person making the booking, data protection? Not here! After entering the room, one disappointment after another followed. 2 single beds literally squeezed in. Old, worn and dirty furniture, mattresses sagging, soft and just as old. Then the bathroom... cheap looking, totally dirty, half a roll of toilet paper, leaky shower, broken hairdryer, loose and crooked paper dispenser. Soap, none... Ouch...Then we took a tour of the completely deserted hotel. Sauna, off, swimming pool, locked and dark, wellness zero. Bar closed. A refrigerator in the breakfast room, where you can take drinks for a deposit of money.In the morning we have a very clear breakfast. 3 dirty coffee machines, two of them in operation. The taste of the coffee was quite economical.We were only able to raise our complaint with an (original tone) hourly temporary worker; the request to call someone could not be implemented. The hotel manager has 3 hotels and might come later. Since we were in transit, we couldn't wait. An MA who was responsible for cleaning was sent to the breakfast table, great timing, seemed a bit disruptive. So I told him everything again and got the following answer: "That's stupid, well I wasn't on duty yesterday" and we then sent him away. Annoyingly, he came again and offered us a 20-minute hydrojet massage as compensation. Thanks for listening, we said before that we had to move on.Ergo, don't book here, I think the pictures we took say it all...Absolutely bad!!Addendum:The lackluster response to my review shows that we are correct in our assessment and everything else from here on out is a waste of time.

The hotel is getting old but is constantly being modernized. Unfortunately the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. Spiders on the ceiling were only removed after 3 days. The ashtrays on the terrace were not cleaned. The hotel can be reached via a very steep driveway. The parking lot is quite expensive at 6 euros per day. Unfortunately, the restaurant has stopped operating, which you didn't see when you booked. The pool is on the first floor and it wasn't very clean either. Unfortunately there is no changing room in the pool area. The breakfast was ok, and the egg dishes were freshly prepared upon request. You could get drinks from a refrigerator at any time. They were settled on the day of departure. There was also a coffee machine available for afternoon coffee. The employees were all very friendly and approachable. Only recommended to a limited extent for people with walking difficulties as there is no elevator. Very nice and large breakfast area with a surrounding terrace and a fantastic view of the town.
