Very nice & cozy guesthouse with a perfect location for a nice hike. The people are super nice & helpful, the breakfast offers a not too big but still completely sufficient selection and everything is made fresh. The view from the breakfast room was brilliant. The only point deducted is that the rooms are quite noisy... If the person in the room above moves, you can also hear it downstairs. But that's just my personal feeling. I will still go to the Talwächter again when I come back to the area😊

I stayed at the Pension zum Talwächter for a week and really enjoyed it. I was visiting with my dog and therefore got the bungalow that was specially prepared for pet owners. It is located behind the house and is at ground level with a large lawn in front of the door. Perfect for furry friends.The bungalow is very spacious and everything was clean.The staff is super friendly and makes you feel right at home.The breakfast surprised me very much, positively. There was a very large selection of everything and nothing was missing here.I felt very comfortable here.

Great guesthouse in a great location🌸. The staff was super nice and friendly and we felt very comfortable. The rooms were nice and tidy and the view from the balcony was beautiful. The breakfast was also very tasty and varied. You will definitely come back to this guesthouse on your next hiking holiday. 😊🏞

Great location, good starting point for hikes, idyllic location. Breakfast very good, varied. Staff friendly, helpful, luggage was brought to the guesthouse using a luggage elevator. We felt very comfortable with the whole family and will definitely be back this year

Were there on vacation for 5 days. We were welcomed very nicely😊. Everything was well organized, the room was great with a balcony and a beautiful view, very clean and well furnished. The breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired, very varied and appealing. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Price for the room with breakfast was also OK. However, if you have problems with climbing stairs or steep climbs, Rathen is generally not such a good place to go 😉

Very nice guesthouse, great breakfast!Great employees, Mr. Ziechner & his team.But for us lowland Tyroleans, the climb to the pension was always a bit difficult. But when we reached the top we were rewarded with a lot of peace and quiet.It was very nice in the health resort of Rathen, so it would be good if every room had a small refrigerator!Or at least one on every floor!But we still had a very nice holiday in the guesthouse “Zum Talwächter”We give 4.5 stars 🌟!

The Talwächter is a small bed and breakfast. Unfortunately our room didn't have a balcony. It was big enough for a short vacation. There was enough storage space for cosmetic items in the bathroom, which I found very good.The breakfast buffet had a good selection. Rolls, bread, cereal, coffee, tea, juices, sausage, cheese, jams, salads, fruit, yoghurt, etc.The location was ideal, the parking lot was right below the house (you can book it when making your reservation) and it wasn't far to the Bastei and the many hiking trails. The Elbe cycle path is also very close.With the guest card you can use the ferry in Rathen free of charge.Unfortunately it is difficult with the catering in the evening. Everything was open on the weekend, but on Monday we had a bit of trouble finding something. We then went to the Steiger Hotel, where there is a buffet, but it costs 29 euros per person. At lunchtime there are several snack options.However, the accommodation is not recommended for people with walking difficulties.It's a relatively steep climb up to the house with a few stairs.

Thanks to the nice manager and his hard-working team. The guesthouse is very clean and beautifully located. The breakfast was very tasty and prepared with love. People always asked if everything was OK. If a problem was raised, it was resolved.Thanks for the nice timeWe'll definitely come back

Nice guesthouse that is ideal for an overnight stay on the Malerweg. Everything was clean, very nice and helpful hosts, great breakfast! I think the price is too high for the very simply and functionally furnished rooms...

We spent our short vacation here. Were welcomed nicely and friendly. A lovely guesthouse in a great location. Mr. Z. is the good soul of the house. Very nice. The breakfast left nothing to be desired. We enjoyed our time there and would love to come back.August 2022.We were back in Saxon Switzerland for a few days and of course stayed at the Pension Talwächter again. It was very nice again and we didn't miss anything. We'd love to come back.
