Upon arrival, the lady of the house was able to recognize me because of my name and the place where I came from. The rooms and the food, I have to say, were more than great. I was able to store my bike well. Unfortunately, it rained a lot when I was there, so cycling wasn't an option for me. I ran very often. This also has been good. But the house scared me a little. I didn't think there would be so many dolls and carpets in the hallways. A figure or doll on each level??Toilet and shower on a half floor. In the room there was only a bed and a small cupboard with a slightly squished table.But: the food, i.e. breakfast, was very excellent. Really a very well-preserved bourgeois breakfast kitchen.Unfortunately, I also have to say that the lady of the house hasn't heard anything about non-smoking in the building. Since there was no TV or radio in the room, you had to go into the common room. Unfortunately there is no internet to receive a radio. But since the hostess was always watching TV and smoking cigarettes, I wasn't able to stay there for more than 30 minutes. Unfortunately. I'm sorry guys. But that's not the way to look at it!!Unfortunately I can't recommend you in this regard.

Very clean, friendly hosts.We felt very comfortable.Unfortunately there was only a sink and shower in the room. To the toilet - one flight of stairs down.

Rooms okay, breakfast sufficient, environment very good, only one restaurant in town which wasn't really open... there should be more possible so that the guests don't have to go to Winterberg

I was once again a guest at Haus zur Orke for a week, the location of the guesthouse is simply great. The hosts are very friendly, helpful and always ensure a pleasant stay. You can also take your dog with you. I was really excited again, I'm going there again at the beginning of July, but with my little dog Piet.

For our ski holiday in Winterberg we wanted to stay in inexpensive accommodation not too far away from the ski lift. We found the best price-performance ratio in the village of Elkeringhausen. We arrived there on Saturday without a car and wanted to take the bus to Winterberg the next morning. The problem: there was no bus on Sunday. Luckily we had chosen accommodation in the Pension zur Orke, because the nice owner of the cozy house on the edge of the forest asked us directly if her husband could drive us to Winterberg.So not only did we get to Winterberg successfully, but we were also able to find out interesting things about the village in which we were vacationing through good conversations with the host of the guesthouse.Over the next few days, due to the strange bus times, the owners of the guesthouse dropped us off more often than we could have reciprocated. We were really shown great hospitality and helpfulness!So the conclusion to a cheap Winterberg holiday: take a car with you or book at the Pension Haus zur Orke :)Very best regardsNiklas & Johanna

A nice guesthouse, with a very friendly landlady. Approx. 3 km from Winterberg. Very clean and tidy. An inn is just a few minutes away.

I give the HAUS ZUR ORKE .3⭐.We were warmly welcomed.The house and property look well-maintained.The interior design of the house is stuck in the 70s but maybe that's exactly what many people are looking for.Access to the toilet is in the hallway.The breakfast is plentiful and a mix of sweet and savory.Various types of bread and rolls are offered, as well as coffee or tea.The area around the house offers many opportunities for hiking and is ideal for taking a walk.Our German Shepherd who accompanied us was also welcome at HAUS ZUR ORKE.Shops, banks and gas stations are only available in Winterberg.The few restaurants in the area are rustic and the interior design dates back 35 years.Unfortunately we had to cancel after one night for work reasons.Our conclusion......Anyone looking for peace and quiet will love Elkeringhausen.

Unfortunately, the entire house is infested with a heavy smell of smoke and poor ventilation. Furthermore, reasonable price per night. Simple breakfast. Excellent WiFi, could watch TV online on my laptop. Toilets outside the rooms, but a shower in the room as well as a sink.

Vacation, like at grandma's. Very nice owner, lovingly and specially furnished, dogs allowed, good rustic breakfast waiting at your own table from 8 a.m. We'd love to come back.

Horrible smell! This entire place stinks of heavy cigarette smoke, mold and ammonia. We cancelled our second night and drove back a day early. We hoped we would get used to the smell overnight but woke up with horrible headaches and sinus pressure. This should be illegal!

Positive: Good location to the ski area (about a 7-minute drive), friendly guesthouse management, parking spaces available for every guest, cheap, breakfast to fill you up with fresh bread rolls, very clean.Negative: older furnishings (if you don't like that), toilets not in the room, shower only in some rooms: no separation from the rest of the room. TV only in the common room, internet extremely poor (700Kbit/s download; enough to load news and pictures).
