We visited the area from the South. Went to their quiz night, which was busy and great fun. It’s a little dated in the pub (area we sat) but it’s a proper pub, and no doubt old so that’s just a personal taste point. We didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food, although each table got some free wedge chips during the quiz which was a kind gesture.Glad we went. Thanks for having us.

Just had Sunday lunch and it may be one of the absolute best Sunday roasts I've had in a very long time. The gravy was so good, and the roast potatoes, veg, mash and Yorkshire pudding were all fresh, home made and stunning.Only thing I'd say is that we ate at 2pm and they had already run out of Beef and we didn't get any of the stuffing that was advertised. The portion was huge and amazing value for the price.Good work team NH!

Had a lovely meal here. Chicken with selection of sides. White wine very reasonable. For regular visits, they have a point system, where you save points and can spend in the pub.

The Newcastle House is more 'pub with rooms' than hotel and is quite old-fashioned. In the public areas, particularly the lounge bar, this is quite appealing, in the bedrooms less so. …

We had a voucher given to us for Redletterdays and since we wanted to go to Cragside House, we booked in here for two nights. We didn't even stay for one night. …

We visit The Newcastle House regularly but this was our first time having the Sunday carvery and it didn’t disappoint. There was a good choice of well cooked meats with all the trimmings plenty of vegetables the tastiest gravy and the service was fantastic.

Great bar not much to say there. There is a function room and a bar. The bar was small with music and good drinks. Average furnishings but clean and simple. …

Went for Sunday lunch the meat was full of fat so much so, left most of it, veg didn’t come out until we were half way through the meal and longer again for the mashed potatoes!!! No extra gravy came with the veg so that was dry, complained to the management who in turn told us very curtly it was a little late in the day and we should have booked! I also had a bad stomach on my return home. Will certainly not be visiting this place again! Very disappointing

Well, what can I say. Asked a question on their Facebook page and got blocked! As quite a regular visitor, I noticed on my recent visit that there was no staff working that I recognised, also they are well known for beautiful home made cakes, of which there appeared to be none. So all asked was, is the pub under new management? No answer given, just instantly blocked! What a strange thing to do 🤷‍♀️ Never mind, plenty other places in Rothbury 👍
