Just had a Sunday dinner down the Oak. No-one in there again. Very strange. Food was mediocre if I'm being honest, which seems STANDARD ATM Everywhere. No staff member asked if everything was OK during or afterwards.

Avoid room three as it has a very small window which is frosted making the room dark, good value for money but I would like rooms to be cleaner than they were when I was there

It is now called Hockley House and has been for about 5 years. I have had a very pleasant stay. Great staff that can't do enough for you. The breakfast was aplenty and evening meals didn't fail to deliver on quality, taste and reasonable prices

Used for a stay whilst in the area for a show bedrooms were clean and tidy but we're basic. The service for the restaurant was very slow on both nights but the Saturday night was extremely slow especially when we were waiting 45mins for Ice cream desserts and then we saw a couple who were served after us with the main course were served their desserts and finished before we even got served and we had been served our main course and finished and ordered our desserts before the were served very poor service.

It’s a bit dark when you go in, but have recently refurbished. Good food, reasonable price as they have a 2 for 1. Have a couple of allergies so they cooked a special meal for me. Impressed.|Would go again.

Dropped in for a quick pint yesterday. Lovely clean beer garden, families eating outside. In working clothes and staff couldn't be more helpful and polite. We were shown to a table and orders taken all within 2 minutes. Great service and staff made sure we were ok for drinks. We definitely go again

Nice hotel to look at. Floor boards were creaky and the walls were thin. There was a function on during our stay and the bass vibrated through the whole hotel and kept us awake. Great if you're not a light sleeper but not great if you are. Food was very good. Steak deal was great value and staff were very professional.

Had Sunday lunch here, it was only ok, did the chef taste the food I wonder? The service was fairly prompt so that was good.

Wouldn't recommend staying here place was fine but we had so many issues. Everyone of them fairly trivial but the amount is stupifying.Shower leaked, tap valve hard to shut, room door hard to close. Could smell sewage on the first night, previous occupants items found in the draw. Can hear the people above us moving around.Overcharged for the room 50 pounds so went to get that refunded. They locked us out of the room on the second day so had to get that fixed.Stuffed up our order first night. Never got the wine we ordered on the second night. Staff always seemed to be busy and juggling between jobs despite the place being almost empty of occupants on a Saturday night. They had a please wait to be seated sign but no staff around.Again all this is trivial bed was comfortable room was fine otherwise. Food that we did get was good and staff that we did speak to were pleasant.

This place is 50/50 The common areas are nice and been decorated to a modern standard as I believe the rooms have. However our room was not great. It smelt of damp. It had mould on the wall, grout in shower was not clean, there was thick dust on the lamps above the bed head and paint chips on the walls and skirting. Bed linen was clean though. The food looked great but I'm.afraid was not the best. The breakfast was awful. I'm used to some basic places I dont ever do 4/5 star luxury but this place needs a few tweaks. The staff were friendly but not attentive, the hotel is in a great location and could be amazing but I'm afraid I wouldn't go back. Theres a lack of thought in there and it needs addressing.
