I am only able to comment on the pub side.Stopped there for a quick meal on my way home with a friend, and I was pleasantly surprised. This is a very old part of London, the area has been rebuilt innumerable times but still, somehow, conserve the odd piece of history and the "feel" of bygone eras. The modest entrance, betrays a meandering interior, with aged dark wood interior and the smell of a time-gone pub.Unexpectedly, the toilets were clean and odorless. The meal, we ordered the vegan burgers and beer, was equally surprisingly good, albeit slightly on the smaller size. The price, considering the location, was eminently affordable and the service adequate.Definitely a good place to stop over with friends, coming back from a town visit.

We went there Thursday after work for a drink, and the service absolutely abysmal! It was not busy at all yet the lady serving me when I asked about what wine they had started looking at the till and after 5 minutes I asked if they have a menu. We ordered 4 glasses of wine and after 5 minutes of her walking around looking totally lost I asked another member of staff if she could help with the order. All the while there were additional 4 members of staff walking around doing nothing that could help and some sort of manager was sitting right next to me at the bar and did not even flinch. I worked in bars myself and managed lots of different places and that type of service was the worst I have seen in a while - it would be quicker if I went behind the bar and did it myself even without knowing the layout 🤦🏻‍♀️ I understand if someone is new they will not know everything- but they at least should try! Or make someone shadow them untill they are confident. Seriously - you had 5 staff behind the bar, 1 person apart from me ordering sth, and it took about 7-10 minutes to pour 4 glasses of wine with and additional member of staff requested to help - that is just terrible

Fantastic location in the heart of London! The staff were friendly and helpful, the beer was quite good and so was breakfast, the rooms were nice, and the stay was an overall enjoyable one. Just don't make the same mistake I did - the reception area is in the bar area so make sure there aren't any matches on when you go to check-in or you may have to wait a while as staff will think you're just one of the many people trying to grab a pint. Can't blame them for it though!

We didn’t stay in the hostel but we did visit for a pub night until late. Live music was awesome and had the place packed until at least 1am. The party vibe was excellent all evening and the drinks went down well. I’ve been here a few times and I loved it each time.

An ok pub in an area that has some beautiful ones. Ambience is lacking with very basic space. Ordered some pies for lunch which were average. Mashed potatoes were flat. I’d go to another one. They seem to do good business for the inn as quite a few people were checking in while we were there.

Watch the charge for drinks. Both myself and a friend had sneaky charges(theft). Ordered the same beer the whole night. Quite a few had 2 pounds extra on the bill when checking later on banking app.. be careful at this pub you have to check the bartenders aren't skimming

Welcoming, polite and helpful staff. We were however disappointed with the Sunday Roast.- The food was covered in gravy, when we were expecting that as per usual the gravy would be served in a jar and each person would use it as it pleased. Also, the taste of gravy was quite blend.- I believed that parsnips was a common presence in a Sunday Roast, but unfortunately they were not part of this (the person serving said they "had no idea" if parsnip was included or not)- We had Sunday Roast to share but no cutlery was provided in the trays to serve the food for each plate, so we had to use the normal forks & knifes to bring the food from the trays to the plates.Once again the staff was nice, but I hope the food quality improves.

Why bother going to spend hard earned money in a pub where the bar staff can't be bothered to smile or even be polite, like say please or thank you !!If your an independent pub you should be offering a lot better serviceOr maybe the young lady should look to work somewhere without customers.Maybe as the photo shows with an empty bar, this is the reason??
