Stayed here before and its a great location to stay when biking in the area. On arrival there was no problem booking in. We had already pre booked 5 of us to eat on the evening but this booking did not seem to be in the diary. …

I stayed here for 2 days while on a long-distance hike. The hotel is absolutely huge. The location is nice, and the room was big enough and clean. The food is good, and I got a lovely packed lunch for an early start (thank you 😊). As others said, the rooms could do with a make-over, but I appreciate that the owners have just recently taken over this hotel, and they are friendly and doing their best. It is true that a woman was turned away for dinner because she wasn't staying in the hotel, and I'm not sure if there could be a different way of organising this (what is one more meal to leave a good impression?). I would overall absolutely recommend staying here, but the room rate, in my opinion, is a bit too high for what you get.

Six of us stayed here for two nights. Three of us arrived slightly early, and were greeted by a very pleasant lady who was very apologetic that the rooms were not ready yet which was fair enough.  …

Called to reserve a table for dinner for next day. Guy on the phone has no idea how to speak to customers and was told “absolutely not” with no real reasoning or discussion. Shame as this pub used to be very good and easy for food. Lots of other very good pubs in the county probably best avoided with that kind of attitude.

The hotel is in a pretty setting by a river. Sitting outside having a drink in the summer would be lovely. The rooms were clean, a bit overcrowded with furniture and reasonably comfortable. The bed linen was old and poor quality. …

Visited around 5.30 pm sat outside by the river which was very nice ,only had drinks and crisps .Crisps a bit pricey at £1.50 a pkt but they were quite nice.I don't think food is available to the general public only to residents, which is dissapointing, hopefully the newish owners will change this in the future.

Phoned hotel to ask if it was dog friendly, the man who answered was very abrupt and told us dogs not welcome! We decided to pop in anyway for early evening meal, minus dog. …
