Sadly the excitement of the location and alleged star rating was soon swept away even as you approach the car park. It looks sad. We were shown the empty restaurant but no menu, no room folder either to entice you to dine. …

Sadly I would not recommend this hotel nor would I return. Room was dated and dull but thankfully it was clean . There was no duvet cover or pillow cases for the sofa bed . The pillows for the sofa bed were a disgrace . …

As Father of the Bride, I need to post this as our wedding at the Alona was so far above expectations from the Bridal Cars to the Piper, the wonderful food and the attentativeness and politeness of the staff.100% recommend this hotel for any gathering or occasion as all our guests gave the place 10 out of 10 for absolutely everything and had a wonderful day, night and breakfast. All the extra touches were absolutley exquisite and helped give the Bride and Groom the greatest day of their lives.I have stayed in hundreds of hotels all over the globe, hosted functions and parties in places including Park Lane and the Guildhall in London but for an intimate wedding party for 50 select guests right here in Lanarkshire, I cannot speak more highly of the exclusive facilites we had here to ourselves. The wedding packages are exceptional value.

Don’t be fooled by the tired exterior; nothing’ that a.coat of paint and a bit of plant care wouldn’t put right. The room we had was spacious spotlessly clean, had lots of storage space, and a working walk in shower. The buffet breakfast was one of the best We’ve had. Everything was fresh, hot and of good quality. A poached egg or a omelette cooked to order? No problem and perfectly executed. The evening meal was not so great and not sure why that was, but overall the Alona is fantastic value for money with friendly and welcoming staff for whom nothing was too much trouble.

This was a fabulous hotel to cap off our tour of Scotland. We booked the pay and play package which included tickets to the M&D theme park. The family room was very spacious for a family of 4. …

Staff are an asset to the hotel. Very friendly and prompt.Food is okay, tasted nice, but the menu is uninspiring.Rooms are fine for a short stay, but dated and in need of improvement. The conference room that we used was poor 1 out of 5. They have a bowling lane over the top of making it not very noisy and distracting.

If this place doesn't merit 5stars then I don't know what does?? Gary on reception was one of the nicest people I have ever met . The hotel was amazing to us from start to finish.the breakfast is truly great and the food at night is also too notch. This hotel is a must visit as it's stylish, comfortable and genuine... Well done everyone. You treated us like royalty... A must book

Popped in for a cuppa and cake. Three drinks and 3 cakes were left. Carrot cake was old and drizzled with red sauce which really didn't go. The hot chocolate was rank and watery. The capacino was cold and the latte was just milk. I think the hotel is well past it's best. Definitely needs a new drinks machine!
