The room we got was dingy at best. The shower and bathroom sink were a nightmare. The beds were probably from the 90s or maybe earlier. I could feel every single coil. It was impossible to find an employee to get more towels. However the pub and the restaurant were quite nice and the service was decent. Location wise, the hotel was close to the train station which made it easy to get to Edinburgh city center. Oh, and there were two grocery stores a minute or two from the door and Greg’s, a great place to get a quick breakfast, lunch, or snack. Oh, if you have big suitcases, good luck getting them into the hotel. The hall lights barely worked too.

Expensive for what it is, shower was dark, mould all round tiling, rail that holds showerhead was broken. Carpets throughout were filthy. Window would not open or close without brute force. Mattress and pillows need replacing. Cannot fault quality of supplied towels. Tv was very old. Overall, this hotel needs a lot of money spent on it, it could be a nice place if this happened. But until I saw this, I will definitely not be back.

As far as travel lodges go this has to be the worst. Dirty. Shady characters outside. People residing as permanent residents slaming doors and up and down the corridor at all hours of the night made for a terrible sleep. They don't make your bed and rooms are run down and dirty. The beds are OK but the pillows are not

Had my wedding party here in November and would not recommend for the stress encountered. When I first went to visit the venue, I was advised I couldn’t change the colour of seat covers they had (they only had black). I really wanted white but decided to agree and I would work with it.Showed up on the day of my party and the seat covers had changed to an ugly mustard colour. This was not what I was sold. I asked a member of staff if she still had the black seat covers as the mustard seat covers didn’t match the colour schemes at all. The member of staff tried to help but couldn’t find any. Other members of staff kept coming in and mentioning how bad the seat covers looked and maybe “the bride” wouldn’t notice as I was standing right there.I asked for a table to put my cake on and was told there was no tables spare (a hotel, bar and restaurant but no spare tables?) this whole situation completely deflated me on the day to the point I was in tears. Wouldn’t recommend this venue for occasions.Only gave 2 star as the buffet was good!

Used the event space for an 18th party. Staff were attentive and friendly (special call out to the bar staff on the night). Party was a success. Recommended.

They let us put in our stuff before clock in time because we went shopping. They gave us a really good taxi number, £7 anywhere in Livingston. …

My Fiancé and I lodged here during valentine. 11-14 February.Room condition was horrible. Reported to room service to get things fixed but nothing was done throughout our stay there which was three nights. Toilet handle was broken and room service assured us that maintenance guy was going to come fix but it was never fixed during our stay. Difficult flushing the toilet.Right hand side bedside lamp bulb was out and bulb never replaced. We were out early in the morning and came back night time so plenty of time to fix things. We were told bed sheet only get changed every three days. Runner on bed was stained and was told they are expecting new ones so this can’t be changed. The only good thing was that external heating was provided for my fiancé when I requested.Won’t be recommending this hotel for my family and friends.

Stayed at this hotel along my cycle ride from Lockness to London. As a budget hotel is was a very good standard. We were told the carpet was new and therefore couldn't take our bikes to the room, which wasn't a problem but they should offer facilities to secure our bikes rather than an open shed. The single room I stayed in was clean and spacious. We arrived at the hotel late but was accommodated at the restaurant for us to have our dinner. The food was good and generous portions.

17 min walk to station. £30 Uber to central Edinburgh. Dodgy bar downstairs, does not do breakfast and nowhere else to go in vicinity.
