I've been absolutely loving my stay at Virgin in Edinburgh. These rooms are so spacious, modern, comfortable, just amazing overall. Each room has a control panel with buttons to switch on or off all lights, individual lights, a call to make your room, even a Do Not Disturb button you can press right by your bedside. It's the modern update I didn't know I wanted in a hotel room. Also, the hotel is just beautiful, and located in a prime area right on Victoria St, right in the heart of Old Town, next to everything you'd need on your stay.On the 7th floor they have a terrace with beautiful views of the city. Worth it to stop in for a candid moment on your trip.Service at the hotel has been outstanding. The cleaning staff even left macaroons for us after turning over the room. We'll be staying here again on our next visit!

We just finished a 7 night stay at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh. This is listed as a 5 star hotel because of the superficial look and prices, but in terms of the rooms, cleanliness, service, and overall operations it's more like a 3.5-4 star. …

This was not a great experience. Our room had view of the alley and we were woken up by people hanging out until 3am. Then we got to hear the lovely trash pick up and the hotel staff rolling out the bins of linens to be picked up. The beds are so uncomfortable. The breakfast was excellent but the tea was brought out lukewarm. You have to pay for any drinkable water.I've stayed at much better hotels in Edinburgh. I will not be back.

We just completed a four night stay at the Virgin Hotel Edinburgh. It was a disappointment to say the least. I visited with the Manager to express my disappointment. Apologies were provided, but no consideration was offered.Josh the concierge was very courteous. Our two adjoining rooms were extremely noisy from road traffic and folks outside the window throughout the night. After the first night, we requested a new room. We were promised that they would accommodate, but they never contacted us.The fitness center had no disinfectant supplies. The breakfast service was awful. Each day it took a minimum of three requests for coffee. It often did not arrive until 20 to 25 minutes after the request. Plenty of untrained help. The restaurant was out of common items each day…corn flakes, yogurt, etc.We just completed a 17 day stay in Ireland and Scotland…all in 5 Star Hotels. This is not a 5 Star Hotel. Very disappointing and no one really cared.

Stayed one night. Nice looking hotel in a great area of Edinburgh. Check in experience was poor - left to wait for our room to be ready for an hour. Room had issues with air-con and shower temperatures. Very expensive for the service received.

- WiFi not working on day one. First person I spoke to said it doesn’t work with some phones (I have an iPhone). Second person said IT were trying to fix it. …

My initial experience with Virgin Hotel Edinburgh was disappointing due to issues caused by Booking.com, which resulted in the cancellation of my reservation. However, after directly communicating with the hotel, they handled the situation with great professionalism and class, making sure to turn things around in the best way possible. The hotel truly made up for the inconvenience, showing the level of service one expects from a 5-star establishment.

This hotel is a treasure in the middle of Edinburgh. Its location is central to the castle and lower markets and shops.I am very impressed with the style and quirky curiosities the hotel went to lengths to create to capture the guests' attention. Examples include the funny library, the exotic entrance of the backlit peach hallway going to reception, the restaurant area with nice bar and separate rooms for private gatherings, and the outdoor area that is attached. There is plenty more than listed here. Two of my favorite experiences as follows at the hotel was David, the Scottish waiter who I spoke with at breakfast. His incredible accent and wickedly sharp and quick wit were a joy to experience. I hope you get a chance to meet him at your stay. Second was Morven, a truly delightful young lady who worked as a waitress in the Commons bar at the hotel. She took the time to suggest a couple of memorable scotch drinks I had the pleasure to enjoy. If you get a chance, this is a great stopping place in your travels. The food was very good and some of the best and most intelligent room designs I enjoyed on this trip.
