We were on a weekend trip, as we approached the hotel we saw the wonderful view. The hill up to it was another matter. Definitely a taxi job, room was great with a sea view with wonderful changing scenery. Breakfasts were good , plenty of everything. Evening meals passable. At both meals, always staff available to help. Now to the steep flight of wide stone steps to drag your luggage up on arrival and bump down on leaving. Not good on the elderly. I will add that all staff throughout the hotel were great.

Paying a little extra for a sea view is worth it, great position, all the staff were professional and friendly, evening meals were very good, breakfast was acceptable unless like me you enjoy a good bowl of porridge to start the day, only porridge on offer was a cardboard carton of Quaker instant to which add your own hot water!......Parking could be a little awkward when busy. If I were staying in Rothesay again I would have no hesitation staying here again.

The Glenburn Hotel in Bute is excellent. The rooms are spacious with a lovely bathroom, perfect for relaxing. The large double bed is ideal for those who prefer a firm mattress and tall pillows. The service is straightforward and friendly. The hotel grounds are beautiful, offering stunning seaside views. You can sit outside, enjoy a drink, and take in the scenery. Highly recommend staying here.

We ended up on Bute after our tent broke in the Skye wind. Can't say we were disappointed, the island is so quiet and peaceful and the hotel is a cracker. Very accommodating staff, decor is a bit dated but it's grand and lovely. We had a great time and really enjoyed the hotel !!

Finally get to stay in the Glenburn after it’s reopening in 2022.Love the deco and the feel of the past in this hotel. We were given the 3rd floor room facing the chimney side overlooking the sea. It was pleasantly decorated and the Twin beds and pillows were very comfortable and felt luxurious. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly, the breakfast buffet was well worth it and of good quality. We regretted for not having dinner at the hotel as someone told us that the chef of this hotel is Michelin graded. Will definitely be back the next time in Rothesay.

Lovley Victorian Hotel in an excellent position on Bute. Foyer is beautiful and grand, carpets are red tartan on room floors. Very large comfortable room with partial sea view. All matching furniture in rooms with tea/coffee making facilities and complimentary toiletries. We had breakfast which was very good. would definitely recommend this hotel.

We visited the restaurant and bar in two occasions. The service was unobtrusive, friendly and professional. The food was as we ordered. The only drawback was that on our first visit we settled the bill at the table, on the second we were asked to go to the cashier and had to wait for three different persons to process the card machine.

Excellent location but once inside sadly disappointing , the old pitch pine panelling has been replaced by a plastic imitation , which to me diminishes the the interior to become quite tacky,The bedroom was small and the bathroom was a haven for anything moving , it was the worst bathroom I have ever experienced anywhere in the world,My photos will show the dire state of the bathroom ,In my last photo you will see the review I completed recently on trip advisor, please read it ,It’s shocking to say the least .Only good point was that most of the young waiting and serving staff were very nice ,

Nice old school hotel. I was initially in one of the rooms without a view. It had the feel of a dated care home and the constant whine of a ventilation system. I found it terribly depressing. I upgraded to a room with a view and it was quite nice, quiet with a modern bathroom and a lovely view. Definitely worth the extra 20 pounds.Overall I enjoyed my stay. I didn’t eat at the restaurant but it was a popular choice. There are lots of options in town for meals or coffee and baked goods.
