Stayed here for three nights and for the price of £42 per night, if you just want somewhere to rest your head, shower in the morning and get going, then this place does the job perfectly nicely. The Waterfront is an ex-student accommodation building so it won’t win any interior design awards with its breeze block walls, but you can tell some love has gone into redecorating by the artworks on the walls in the communal areas. The rooms are small but perfectly adequate: clean, fresh and well-presented with a double bed, a TV, tea/coffee-making facilities and a basic but functional en-suite toilet and shower room. The shower is a small cubicle with a shower head jutting out of the tile work, so not “luxurious” but perfectly serviceable, and while it took a minute for me to figure out how to get it running as hot as I’d like, it wasn’t a big issue. Toiletries are not provided however this was not a problem for me as I brought my own.The location is excellent - The Waterfront is situated, as you’d expect, on the banks of the River Clyde: walking distance from Greenock town centre, the Ocean Terminal featuring Scott’s Bar and Restaurant and the Waterfront Cinema, as well as the A8/M8 and Greenock Central railway station providing connections to Glasgow.Free WiFi is available at the hotel which is a nice, unexpected bonus for the budget price.Shared kitchens are available for use by guests - I cannot comment on these facilities as I did not use them during my stay.As their advertising blurb spells out (almost a bit too clearly), if you want The Hilton or The Ritz without the price tag, it’s not the hotel for you. But it’s certainly no hostel either - your experience of it will be what you make of it, and my experience was a positive one.I would recommend The Waterfront to anyone looking for a cheap and cheerful place to stay, whether you have business Greenock itself, or the wider area.

Don't be scared away by one bad review! This is budget accommodation but it's clean and safe. Rooms are ensuite with a kettle WiFi and TV.|The location is brilliant- 5 minutes from the station and right on the quayside. Very quiet area. Staff are friendly and helpful.

This place is dreadful. It has glowing reviews, here and on booking... well be prepared to be disappointed as the room was dirty, the mattress awful and you wished that you hadn't booked there. …

Definetly 5 stars. Basic but clean, staff were fantastic. Big communal kitchen to gather in for a take away before going to a show.

We booked a night to stay here this weekend, it is so dirty and mould everywhere, we lifted the bed and the mattress and bed base was covered in mould, it's advertising that it's clean and cheerful on booking. Com, reviews say it's nice and clean but we was greeted with a dirty room full of mould, after 2 hours in which we just walked around the town we decided due to how unclean this place was we returned got out suitcase and left, please don't be fooled into thinking your getting something nice because it's a dump and nothing clean about it,

Great stay for the price and bed and facilities easy to use. Attendant waited up for me as a late arrival on check-in. Excellent. Tried to see dolphins outside but weren't there today

Great location, eating places, leisure centre, small cinema, and shops nearby. I have stayed a few times before. Pleasant and comfortable room, nice and cosy. Feels safe for a solo woman traveller. Very helpful caretaker John. Third time I have stayed and have booked it again for November

You get what you pay for but saying that the service is far better than the most bigger hotels. Kitchen facility is a plus . Shower nice and hot but best bit is the view out the window of blue seas .
