We booked at short notice to travel from Ayrshire to Fife, to enable us to catch the train from Linlithgow to Edinburgh for a day.We booked a standard twin room which was quite dark and in need of some TLC but it was a reasonable cost in the high season and only booked the day before. The restaurant was attractively decorated and had very comfortable chairs and the food was very good (ate there for 4 times). The staff in the restaurant, they were excellent, particularly the young man that was on lunch service on Sunday 18/8/24. He was very welcoming and offered some information about the area, he also encouraged us to return for breakfast which we did both mornings. The restaurant was very busy the second morning but he was still very professional and friendly.Issues with our room were as follows:- No teaspoons/stirrers for tea/coffee, thought it may have been missed the first morning but still nothing after the room was made up, had to go and ask for some at reception.- We left the sign up for our room to be made up on our second day. My bed was made but my Mum’s just had the quilt thrown up.- Sheets weren’t long enough for the bed.- Mattresses were cheap and uncomfortable.- Suction shower mats should be available in the rooms as the baths are very curved and slippery not just for my 80yo mother but I also found it hazardous.- Hot water temperature to the shower was very temperamental with a slight turn of the tap it would go either very cold or very hot.Overall value for money but with minor improvements/attention to detail, could have been so much better as far as the accommodation is concerned. The above information has also been provided direct to the hotel.

Bought an afternoon tea through Itison. It was one of the best I have had. The staff were very accommodating, even going out of their way to help with my booking. Staff at the hotel are lovely and food was perfect. Bonus, that I could take my dog to the bar area. Will definitely be back.

One night stop over. Room £86 without breakfast. We were tired after a long drive and decided to eat in the hotel bar for dinner. We ordered a buttermilk chicken burger and a beef blue (cheese) burger. …

The best thing about the place is that the hotel has plenty of parking and is cheap compared to those closer to Edinburgh.Check-in was quick. Unfortunately, they had a function on that night, and the room they gave us was directly above it. Loud thumping music till midnight on our first night did not make for a great night's rest. Neither did the creaky floorboards in the passage directly outside our room. It seemed our sleep was doomed the first night. At 3am some guy decided it was time to leave, making a racket as he left waking us after we had just made it to sleep. I would have booked elsewhere had I known it was on and they were putting us in the room above it. My 69yo mum was not happy the next day.The bed was OK The room we booked didn't match the pictures on the room description, which was a bit annoying. If a room doesn't have 3 beds, they should not have a photo of only a room with 3 beds on the listing. It's very hot upstairs, which will be good for those who feel the cold. We found it quite stifling, and the windows don't seem to prop open to let in any fresh air.We had 3 booked in our room, but only 2 cups & 2 satchets of coffee were provided. We were out most of the day and kept forgetting to leave a note to ask for more. The bathroom door had a broken handle and some dope installed the privacy lock so close to the handle that you banged your knuckles on it opening the door. The hot tap on the sink wasn't working when we got there. The shower screen and edge of the bath had black stuff almost like mold.Would we stay here again? Maybe. The motel units on the ground floor away from the function room would probably have been better choice.

Very nice food and the hotel has been updated but our room had the paint coming away from the ceiling. Not sure if this is because it's a room for people with a dog but it needed some work. The staff and the food are superb. The room is boiling and had to turn the heating down.Based on the food I may stay again but based on the room I wouldn't

Went for dinner. It was pretty quiet for a Friday evening which is a pity. The service was good though we did wait a while for our food, but it was worth the wait. I had the beer battered fish and my friend had the cod with rice. We were both very happy with our meals and the bill was very reasonable.

This restraint serves world class chef prepared meals at very good prices. ||Trip advisor has not even got this place listed and yet it is some of the best food we have had in a while. ||Delicious is the only way to describe the tastes. …

The hotel is under new management and they are trying to improve things. We were served by Logan this evening for a family meal. He was courteous and very funny, as well as looking after all our needs and taking feedback from us.
