Four of us there for a weekend and we were completely satisfied with the hotel. The staff were very courteous the rooms were clean and warm, plenty of clean towels, hot water, tea coffee etc.The only negative was that the breakfast was never hot enough even although there was a lovely selection. The food in the bar area was delicious, no complaints there and the service was excellent. There were a lot of terrible reviews that kind of put me off before we arrived but I honestly don't know why people were so negative. We had a lovely stay there and all four of us would book again.

The hotel was very old and tired. Furniture in room was chipped, peeling and without knobs. Bathroom was dated but clean. We opened a drawer and found two empty wine bottles, a toothbrush in the bathroom and stained pillowcases. Good location - central and on the river. Front desk staff was very nice and accommodating. You get the feeling they know that the hotel is dated and insufficient but they just have to deal with it. I think what bothers me most is that the photos on their website look nothing like the actual rooms. Some transparency would be the good. Bed was comfortable and had a good night Carpet is ripped, torn and just dirty. There are much better choices.

A good stay, though the hotel room is a bit dated. The premises were clean, the bathroom was new and renovated, though the carpeting in the room itself could use a good shampooing. The staff were so friendly and helpful. …

Where to begin. After a 4 hour long bus ride behind us, me and my girlfriend were supposed to check in at the Columba hotel at 3 o'clock. After being told that the room was not yet "clean" we waited for 2 hours in the bar where we were given no less than one free drink. Upon which we were told that the room was still not ready. After we were finally allowed to enter the room we were greeted by dried pee and poop residue on the toilet seat, toothpaste splatters on the faucet, sink and shower screen, used tissues on the bathroom floor, weeks of accumulated dust on the floor, walls and tables, dried blood stains on the sheets, enormously dirty windows, chips and crumb residue from the previous guest on the floor and chairs, not to mention a pair of socks and underpants from another guest. After receiving this, we immediately asked if this could be fixed. To this we received a serious response, and it would be solved immediately. This did not happen. I went to the reception 6 times because after hours and multiple empty promises, nothing happened. Finally, the manager went with a colleague to the room and told us that this is not the normal standard of the hotel (dust does not build up overnight). Eventually, I asked to get the vacuum cleaner and cleaning supplies, so I could clean the room myself. This was no problem, but again this was never brought to the room. The next day me and my girlfriend went out for the day and asked if we could get room service to clean the room. This was no problem either, only we came back into the room that evening and to our (not real) surprise, nothing had been done. Even our sheets were still on the same way as we had left them that morning. In addition, there is absolutely no way to close the bathroom door or turn off the light. The mold is in the shower and the paint is coming off the walls. These three days at the Columba hotel were filled with empty promises and not once did the management take us seriously or try somewhat hard to resolve things. We were offered a 50 pound return and breakfast. When I pay almost 600 pounds for a room that 50 pounds interests me pretty little. I want a decently clean room where I can step out of the shower normally without finding the dust and crumb remains of another guest under my feet. And when I see the state of the room I wonder about the state of the kitchen. A complementary breakfast, then, is the last thing I want. I have never been so fooled by poor and uninterested, lazy management. Even after indicating to be allergic to excessive dust, a vacuum cleaner was never brought, let alone a proper cleaning (which was promised several times). We ended up spending the three days we were there sleeping under filthy sheets with blood stains and a dirty, dusty, uncleaned room.(My review was never approved, so I'll just try again)

We stayed last weekend for the marathon. Like others I was apprehensive after reading reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. The check in was smooth, the room perfectly fine with large comfy bed. The bathroom was clean. …

Excellent location. Good size room, but the room did get very cold at night, a nice bathroom with a good size shower. Small tv and tired looking carpets, iron and ironing board, which I thought was handy as my shirt was creased. Overall, it's not bad. Didn't try the breakfast as left to early.

It is certainly a very old building, but it is filled with great character, of a bygone era. Our room was clean and comfortable, with no problems or deficiencies. Although muted voices could be heard through the walls, overall, the hotel and its guests were very quiet. I would return if I were to visit Inverness again. The front of the building is covered with scaffolding, with no information on the renovation completion date

Arrived late on the 11 October 2024. Was booked into a standard double. Well from the moment I walked into reception it looked a run down unloved hotel. I was booked in for three nights. …

Run. Find someplace else. This is not an upscale hotel. And they charged me £240 for a single night. I booked 2 rooms on Expedia, as we were traveling with our 27 year old son. They put us all in a single “family room” and they wanted to charge me another £240 to fix their problem even though the nightly rate (shown on their own website) is only £125 per night. The message is that if you book with them through Expedia, they will shamelessly violate you. This hotel is old and dated. The rooms are small and the bathroom tiny. The room was poorly lit and didn’t have enough electrical outlets. The bathroom was dirty. The bed was rock hard. And the AC was a plug in electrical fan by the window.AND this hotel is SO NOISY! We were given a lovely room overlooking an alley. We had drunks serenade us at 1:30 and then two garbage trucks showed up at 5:30 and start banging the bins. The staff? Surly. Unhelpful.I do NOT recommended this place. The quality for the price is scandalous. You deserve better.
