The drive to the Forest of Nature alone is worth seeing. The avenue stretches for a good mile. We were given a warm welcome by Lynn and shown around the property. The rooms are very clean and comfortably furnished. The breakfast was excellent and we even ate our first Haggies (which was also very tasty). Lynn was kind enough to lend us some tools for the nearby quarry. This enabled us to find a few nice fossils. We really enjoyed the breakfast and the many stories about the birds at the window. Some have the ring on their right foot, others on their left. If you want to know what it's all about, you are welcome to book with Lynn and you certainly won't regret it.

A Memorable Stay. We will remember this overnight stay long after all the chain hotels have been forgotten. We were on our way home from a trip to visit family. Old fashioned but good and comfortable. Good wifi. …

The hotel is perfect for price and we had a comfortable night in a family room. Two of us and five Spaniels. Yes five spaniels. Dogs a re welcome and the grounds around the hotel were the perfect spot to walk them. Good food and the owners were fantastic. Felt a little like staying at a friend's.

Some people on a village recommended us this place, and it was just what we needed. As backpackers we have loved this gergeous and calmed place and it's really good sandwiches (specially the coronation one). The lovely lady in charge has helped us with our route and talked to us about really interesting local topics. We recommend it a lot.

Great home made cakes and desserts, the Bakewell tart and flapjack came in generous portions - the tea was just what we needed after a wander through the 300 year old woodland... Finding the peculiar painted wooden animals in the trees, and even a hidden gravestone! A very welcoming cafe and gift shop, with friendly owners ☺️ we sat in the cafe and saw many small garden birds flitting around the feeders including siskins, coal tits and chaffinches. The owners have recommendations for local sites of interest too! We will definitely be back ... Especially once we need a second bottle of heather gin! EDIT: I forgot to add, we're staying in the gatehouse accommodation which is very reasonably priced and cosy, we were surprised at the fair prices of the crafts up at the main house considering how beautiful and professional the items are... We are already planning what to bring home for our friends. The gate house is dog friendly 😁

Stopped off here whilst driving up the East coast following a recommendation from a friend. The cafe is accessed via a long drive to the house, drive slowly along it though as it is very bad with large potholes.  …

Another lovely vegan meal for us both (I ordered too many chips if there is such a thing!)|Friendly welcome as always, the air was full of sweet scented blossom and the sound of wild birds enjoying the sunshine. |As always, a quiet retreat atmosphere in superb surroundings on a bright and cheery day. :)

Such a nice stopover, we were sad it was just that and not a destination for a few days . We received a really warm welcome and the room was comfortable, clean & warm. The building itself is very cool - old and atmospheric and set amongst lovely grounds . Would definitely return if we were to be in the area again .
