Had a great time with family at the Aviemore resort woodland lodges, yes they do need upgrading and expensive considering. However, very clean, and warm, log burner was lovely. Great space outside the lodge and very beautiful. …

We stayed here for 6 nights mid September. Our lodge was clean and tidy. Some slight wear and tear but it certainly didn't stop us from having a lovely holiday. The beds were comfy and the rooms were clean. …

I booked a lodge for a group of 5 as a base for exploring the area. The lodge itself as the other comments describe are not luxury but comfortable and warm. …

Was run down 2021/2022 no progress made. Furniture old, upholstery and carpets in desperate need of replacing. Could do with a gate on the balcony to keep dogs and children safe. Expensive, rundown but clean. …

Lodge run down and smelly for £350 a night! It’s such a shame because some maintenance and updating it would be a great location especially with all the amenities the hotel offers. …

We stayed in July 2024 as a family of 3 adults, 2 children, in a 3 bed lodge. |Overall, for the price of £1500 for three nights B&B, it was disappointing.  …

Real let down considering what they charge. We paid over £1000 for a few nights stay and the reality was the cabin we stayed in was run down, in need of repair, surrounded by cigarettes and clearly last refurbished a long time ago. The cabin was dirty, full of cobwebs, leather couches torn, carpets, curtains and walls stained while the kitchen was poorly equipped. The exterior of the cabins are actually quite nice, but the inside has clearly just been ignored and not invested in.On arrival staff were unpleasant and not particularly responsive, for example did not follow up on request for wood (3 requests), front desk staff rolling their eyes at other staff, advising we needed to pick up a travel cot from reception as it could not be dropped off themselves and also when I advised we were staying for our honeymoon and would like some prosecco, the first thing we were told is "well you still need to pay". Not a reflective service for what we paid.Being fairly local, it's really disappointing to see a company charge what they are for accomodation that is so sub par. There are many alternatives that are worth considering before you look to stay here.

Great lodge for a family break. Very peaceful setting. My kids loved the swimming facilities, soft play and play park. The resort is slightly dated in terms of decor but still very good value for money and would visit again

We had a fantastic stay at the Macdonald lodges. We stayed in a 5 bed lodge. The main attraction is the childrens activities. In school holidays (summer and winter) they have a huge 4 room play room that is ideal for all toddlers (there are staff helping and they were so nice), year round they have a 4 floor play structure, pool and outdoor playground. There was so much to do for our 2 and 4 year olds. The kids areas were clean and well maintained. The lodges were decent, comfy beds, good bathrooms. The ceilings need a lick of paint, and the kitchens do not have an oven, only stovetop and microwave, which I think causes the negative reviews. Regardless of this I would absolutely come back. The village is so close, everything is walkable. Rothiemurcus is great. We had the included breakfast most days and it was really good. We loved it here and would definitely come back!
