We had a lovely overnight stay here. Our room was the closest to the main part of the pub so we were worried about noise, but it was perfectly peaceful. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were lovely, super friendly and helpful. The building is steeped in history and has a great atmosphere. It's the perfect place to stay to easily access all the wonderful things Arundel has to offer. We'd happily return here.

Great lunch, good value for money. A warm and hospitable welcome, with attentive (but not intrusive) staff. Thwe Sunday Roast selectio was excellent - the beef was perfect, as was the lamb and the fish and chips. My guests were much impressed and delighted.

We were attending a wedding for which the friendly staff arranged an early arrival, allowing us to change. |No signage for reception which was in the bar, when full of drinkers/diners. …

St Mary's Gate has recently been taken over, and we have been a number times in the day for drinks and lunch, and always had good service. The food on offer has been varied and tasty. However, we visited the pub on Friday evening, waited at the bar for 5 to 7 minutes waiting to be served, the wait was not due to overcrowding, because there were only 6 other patrons in the pub.Had a couple of drinks but was shocked when at 21:50 , they turned clients away twice, potential doubling the number of guests in the bar.I couldn't understand why the pub was closing so early on a Friday night, turning away potential business. Maybe it was bedtime for the staff?I would like to know why the pub shut so early?

We booked a 3 night stay way back in February. We had been before and the rooms/food were great. This time unfortunately it was awful.....upon arrival we were told the pub would be closed 90% of the time and they were not serving food at all. We had arranged on the Thurs and Fri to meet friends there for food and drinks, the whole reason we stayed there, but couldn't. So had to make new arrangements at last minute. Disgusting, they should have phoned us and pre warned us that we would be getting nothing that was promised. We stayed in a pub/restaurant for a reason and we were completely let down. The breakfast was served but extremely limited, if you didn't want a fry up you were disappointed as I was. Also the WiFi in the room was not working at all and the room was very dusty.Only had cups/glasses and new towels on 2nd day. Emailed the manager and nothing was said or done apart from telling us they had staffing issues. Well unfortunately that is not our fault. We were extremely let down and ruined our stay. It's a shame as we will never be going back and I am sure they ha e lost a lot of custom and tbh so they should
